App to Help People Taking Medicine on Time
UX/UI Case Study
TOT (Take On Time) app is an application for people who needs to take medication but for some reason (many daily tasks, age, memorizing problems) miss time and need to be reminded.
The problem:
Busy people and old people are overwhelmed by daily tasks and forget to take medicaments during the day on time.
The goal:
Design an app that allows users to easily schedule taking medication, get a reminder on time and show what exactly user needs to take right now.
My role:
UX/UI designer designing an app from conception to delivery.
Responsibilities:
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
PERSONA
Pain Points:
Reminder:
Busy adults are overwhelmed by the daily tasks and missing medication taking
What medication:
Users cannot remember what medication and what amount they need each time and what medications look like.
When to tale:
User confused by time of medication taking, some medication needs to be taken before some after meal.
Problem statement:
Cora is a busy manager who takes care of her health and needs to take some medicine but she is overwhelmed by tasks during the day and wants to have some reminders about taking medication and what medication.
FINDINGS
I conducted one round of usability studies. Even after first round there were find some emergency points where users were frustrated.
Users are very confused with the notification, they don’t see the description and boring with a lot of notifications. But at the same time, some of them had the concerns to forget about medicine in 10 min if they cannot take it right now.
From the first screen, users could not understand how to apply the reminder
It was pretty uncomfortable to turn on the notification and unclear if it is on
The Medication card had many missed fields such as picture, type, additional notes

TAKEAWAYS
Impact:
The app makes users comfortable with scheduling reminders, adding new medications, and turning on/off reminders. The synchronizing option for different devices makes the app more comfortable by using at different times and areas.
What I learned:
While designing the app I found that many people prefer to have notifications on their phone and watch. They also still skip and forget to take medication even with reminders. So function “Delay” was really necessary.
