VESD Message for Back to Campus 2021/2022
Over the last two weeks, the CDC and Ca Dept of Public Health have released their health and safety guidelines for the 21/22 school year. We are happy to announce that we will be returning to school on August 25th with full-time, in-person learning.
The safety guidelines will be similar to the end of last year and summer school this year. Face coverings will be required indoors for staff and students, with exemptions per CDPH face mask guidance. Face coverings are optional outdoors for everyone.
We will also continue temperature checks and health screenings before entering campus, along with an emphasis on hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and staying home when sick.
We’ll be sending a survey to all families through ParentVUE to choose the learning model for your student. You can choose between full-time, in-person learning, or independent study, which is a blend of asynchronous and daily synchronous work with a VESD teacher. Please go to this website to make your selection:
We understand and respect that some families may be uncomfortable with their children wearing masks throughout the day. This decision and direction to mandate face coverings for all staff and students was made by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), not by VESD. As a school district, we are required to follow CDPH directives, as we would with any law/regulation/policy.
Thank you so much for being so understanding. We look forward to seeing our campuses full of kids and staff and taking another step towards returning to normal.
