The Iron Type Rider

The Iron Type Rider is a keyboarding speed and accuracy contest loosely based upon Alaska's famous Iron Dog snowmobile race.

Teams of two complete typing tests that are converted into distance travelled based upon words-per-minute and accuracy.

Simultaneously, the teams must drive their race vehicle along the trail using Google Earth flight simulator. As they race through the rugged Alaska wilderness, through mountain passes, across vast stretches of tundra and ice, and blasting up frozen rivers, they can reach speeds of over 200 mph.

Teams must also keep a detailed written and photographic journal of their daily experiences along the trail.
