Another alternative would be to plan to stay in Dublin on Saturday night, then catch one of the ferries in the morning. Unfortunately this would require adjusting reservations that we have made for hotels in Caernarfon and Porthmadog. We could do that, assuming that is really the better approach, and that rooms are available.

I just picked up a roof box for my car for our holidays in five weeks time and the height with roof box on is 2.05 metres. Our booking is for a car 1.9 metres cos I rang to ask a few weeks ago . Does anyone know if I will be charged for the ammendment. We were never asked if we would need a roof box space and Irish ferries do not charge extra for roof boxes. I know it's more of a loading space issue. I will be disgusted to pay for an amendment for the bloomin thing.

I rang Irish ferries this morning to see what the story was and I was told they would need to be told in the event of a higher car just in case there was a space issue. Id say very unlikely tbh. So I asked would I have to pay to ammend the heights and I was told not at all so I came clean haha and I told them my heights were now more than 1.9 mts. Its all sorted now new tickets issued and printed . That's one less thing to be concerned with anyway.

It always amazing me how much there is to do on ferries. I really do think I should make the effort to go on one one day. I find it all a bit scary though to be honest. Love how easy they make it to take the doggies x

This particular ferry was really good, with lots of facilities (compared to a very bland cross-Channel ferry I went on last weekend!) I recommend the larger ferries, or maybe in your case the fast speedy ones
