When I first heard about the virus back in February, I never thought that it would completely change my life. Our school first shut down on March 13th and many of my friends and I were happy about this, as now we would get a small break from school.
When I first heard about the virus back in February, I never thought that it would completely change my life. Our school first shut down on March 13th and many of my friends and I were happy about this, as now we would get a small break from school.
We went into the start of quarantine thinking it would only last two weeks and everything would go back to normal, but little did we know we were in it for the long haul. The first few weeks of isolation were tolerable. It was nice to have a break from school and relax at home, but I was barely allowed to leave the house and there is only so much you can do indoors. I was doing ok until I heard the news that spring sports were canceled. I had been practicing tennis all year so I could make the team this year, but now along with the season, tryouts were canceled as well. After this, I also learned that robotics was ending and that we weren't going to have any more competitions. The robot that our team spent so much time making wasn’t even gonna get the chance to compete.

The bad news kept piling up, but I eventually got over them and accepted the fact that this year was not going to normal. School soon started remotely and my boredom decreased. I was loaded with work and that took most of my time.

Nevertheless, one of the worst things about quarantine was that you couldn’t see your friends. Even though we facetimed almost every day it wasn’t the same. The summer passed in the blink of an eye and it's hard to believe that I started junior year already.

We are now having a hybrid school environment and I never imagined school to ever be like this. Classes are very unusual now and it's hard to accept this as the new normal. This whole experience is different for everyone and will definitely take some time getting used to. Undoubtedly, COVID-19 impacted everyone's lives, including my own, in different ways, and changed life completely.
