Irene Hoeve

Welcome to the Irene Hoeve!

For the past 400 years there have been 5 cows to make Gouda cheese. The Irene Hoeve is the ideal place to see Gouda cheeses being made by hand, using the traditional farmer methods.

"Hoeve" is dutch for farm and this "Hoeve" is named after the lady living overhere 400 years ago: "Irene Hoeve". This "Hoeve" is built in the pointed "stolp" style, typical of North Holland.

A family business with the current family being present since 1984. One brother makes cheese, the second brother makes woodenshoes by hand, the third brother makes them by machine.

Different mixtures of herbs and spices provide a great selection of farmer cheeses which can be tasted, together with a glass of Dutch berry wine.

Different colors and designs, your size in woodenshoe is available and you can try them on.
