WinSock File Transfer Protocol, or WS_FTP, is a secure file transfer software package produced by Ipswitch, Inc.[1] Ipswitch is a Massachusetts-based software producer established in 1991 that focuses on networking and file sharing.[2] WS_FTP consists of an FTP server and an FTP client and has over 40 million users worldwide.[3]

File Transfer Protocols are used to transfer large files. FTP clients add stability and encryption options over traditional FTP transfers.[5] The WS_FTP client has a "classic" GUI with two panes, one showing the local computer and the other accessing the remote host, though newer versions of the software have updated interfaces, including a web browser interface.[5] The WS_FTP secure server encrypts files using SSL/FTPS, SSH, or SCP2 and HTTPS transfers.[3][7] It is self-contained, eliminating the need for an external database.[7] WS_FTP's additional built-in capabilities include email client integration, alerts and notifications, server failover, and transfer scheduling.[1]

I've had success getting DKIM authentication to work at our mail server level, but can't seem to figure it out at the client domain level. We send email on behalf of about 10 clients and their individual domains. We do not manage their email accounts and when I add their domain the imail software it assumes we manage their email users and starts kicking 550 unknown user errors.

Is there anyway to get the imail server to handle DKIM authentication without the domain being added under domains?

As I understand it, I don't think DKIM per se has anything specific to do with mail delivery into a mailbox, just that your server has the private DKIM key and selector the client's domain has the public DKIM key and the selector is what connects the two.

-Werun a membership management system for our clients and we generate emails ontheir behalf to confirm memberships, other system events, etc. They also useour system to pull specific subsets of their membership and send themnewsletters, invite them to events, etc. through our system (our email server).

-Theclients also send emails from their domains directly from their own emailservers and those emails have zero interaction with our server. So they do not use our email server as a gateway for their own emails from their email client.

There is an option to change the authoritative domain in the software to "use the sending user's domain", but when I turn that on I get no DKIM signing info(not even mail server domain) on the receiving end. Again, in the DNS zone file I do have a DKIM record for the for the key I created like:

key._domainkey.[clientdomain].com. IN TXT "v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=xxxxx

I ended up using the Imail software's domain peer list option. This required me to setup our client domains in the software, but without any users. It allowed for DKIM signing on outbound mail without any issues. The only hiccup was internal mail, when a client tried to send email through our system to someone in their organization, mail wasn't being delivered. Imail will look for that user and when not found, forward to domain peer listed, but we had to work with clients to make sure their mail provider would allow the SMTP VRFY command from our web server's IP. Thankfully clients like gmail allow this by default by responding "Send some mail, I'll try my best." Figured I'd update in case someone else was running into similar issue.

Right then. I never touch the stuff... but, run the batch manually and turn the logging up all the way. You should get negotiation messages that will offer a hint either from the client or on the server side.

The batch file is populated with different code(from Dynamic-SQL) with the name, source directory, and destination directory, for each client's FTP server. All of them work fine, except the new ones using SFTP w/o password.

Usability features to look for are customizable displays and drag-and-drop functionality that make it possible to instantly connect to multiple remote servers and move any size and type of file. The FTP client should also make it easy to locate files and folders using integrated search engines by parameters such as file/folder type, size and date.

Many businesses have found the answer to their FTP security challenges by turning to Ipswitch WS_FTP Professional. The client software provides best-in-class security with the highest levels of encryption, is easy to customize, and reduces administrative burden. Here are some of the benefits you can count on:

When you want to copy the odd file, Internet Explorer or the generic FTP Client can be of service. For anything more advanced, you need something tougher. WS_FTP is one of the best clients on the market, and while this edition doesn't add too much, it's definitely one of the front runners.

An FTP client has to handle core tasks - uploading, downloading, CHMODding, renaming - and there's not much scope for things to go wrong with these. It's in the more advanced features that they become useful, and WS_FTP has plenty.

In such instances, the client uses an enterprise email client such as Outlook on the Mac platform. In this case, Zimbra facilitates Exchange web services that let you connect the Zimbra mailboxes with the Mac Outlook client.

Further, if any user uses Outlook on the Windows platform, then Zimbra offers a MAPI Connector. It enables users to view their complete Zimbra mailbox right in the Outlook mail client.
