in ios 16, branded live wallpapers and special ones for the iphone xs max model have completely disappeared, which is very sad, I hope that Apple developers will return live wallpapers from live photo and exclusive for that model live wallpapersand that I have already tried to put several live photos as wallpaper, but they are just like a static picture and more than one tip from apple care support did not help

Android had live wallpapers ages ago and apple is still unable to crack it. The long press in ios to animate wallpaper concept belongs to the stone age. Bored of seeing the same icons and theme in ios. I might as well switch to android as it offers loads of customization and the phone turns magical and lively. If I'm paying 1000 bucks, I want the phone screen to look how I want it not how apple wants it!

Please stop yelling, DEV knows better what you like and what is not necessary for you any more. They just remove live photo so accept it, adapt yourself to new idea bacause probably you don't understand it at all. Of course they could did a pinch gesture (android style) or L gesture or any other gesture to enable edit mode for lock screen insted of hold a touch what was a live photo start but... if they decide to remove it it's just done. Sometimes if you take out you phone from a pocket and realize that lock screen widget was changed due to self auto hold touch and random edit of lock screen, please don't scream it's a new surprise like 1st April so be smiled and happy you just get a bonus.

What the heck!? I had no idea the new iOS would remove the Live Photo wallpaper..I spent way too much time designing my own wallpaper in Photoshop and Aftereffects. It made my phone look like a sci-fi prop when pressed. It was my favorite wallpaper, and used it for years! Why would you guys get rid of the Live Photo wallpaper, WHY!?

Bug:  the original live photo works fine when set as lock screen wallpaper. But after editing (applying a filter) it shifted to the right. This problem seems happens on vertical photos.

Work around: Import the original live photo to the Photos app on macOS, edit it as you like and share it back to your iPhone (use the "right click>Share>Airdrop" inside Photos app so that live photo effect can be preserved). In my case it completely fixed the shifting problem.

Yes, seems like it happened over night for me. It actually faded to a solid black screen when pressing on it. Then when I tried to redo my Lock Screen wallpaper with the same Live Photo the image now shifts to the right of the screen. About one tenth of the image is visible, rest of the screen is black. Hope this gets fixed. Note, this was before doing the 14.2 update.

I had this issue, and I managed to het it to work after turning off the sound for the live photo, sending it to myself and saving it, cropping it, and rotating it several times. It took many attempts but it finally worked :)

I had a similar issue; some of replies have mentioned sending/saving it through another app, however I simply tried texting myself the picture and using that saved photo. It has worked (so far). Good luck!

I got my new iPhone 11 Pro today and previously I was using iPhone X (running iOS 13.1 beta). The iPhone 11 pro comes with iOS 13.0. To use my latest backup, I registered and upgraded my iPhone 11 through apple beta and then successfully recovered my data through iTunes. However, the live wallpaper just disappeared as shown in the picture.

If you plan to continue being a beta user, you have to expect some things to not work. And you really can't ask any questions here in the general forum about Beta software, per the NDA you agreed to when you signed on to be a beta tester.

If you plan to continue being a beta tester, you need to understand not everything will work. If you wanted to go to the public releases, you didn't follow the proper procedure to enenroll from the Beta and upload the iTunes backup you made before you became a beta tester.

I totally understand this is on me. I have been using ios13 beta for over two months and have experienced and reported many bugs (no response). The reason I posted it here is I would like to know if this is only on me. Now I know the answers is No. If any admin believes the content is improper to be here, please kindly delete it for me. Thanks.

The iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max all are perfectly capable to do live wallpaper. They do so beautifully, on iOS 13. The feeling is pretty similar and the animation effect works just as well without 3D Touch.

Remember the live fish wallpapers from iOS 9? They may be a fading memory at this point since Apple removed them all from the iPhone in iOS 11, but there is a way to get those fishies animated on your device again. They'll be live photos for your lock screen, which is as good as it will get until Apple lets us use all its live wallpapers, new and old, one day, which will probably never happen.

Apple's default live wallpapers not only animate when you use 3D Touch on the display, but they move faster or slower depending on how much force you apply. When you lift your finger off the screen, the animation reverses back to the first frame. The only way to simulate this right now is by using a jailbreak tweak, and there is no public jailbreak for iOS 12 yet, though there is one for iOS 11.

So our version of these fishy live wallpapers will act just like normal live photos that you turn into live wallpapers on your iPhone. They will animate when you use 3D Touch, but they will stop playing when they reach the end of the video, and they won't reverse back to the first frame.

There are six live fish wallpapers that Apple removed starting in iOS 11, and all of them are linked individually below as .m4v video files. However, there's no simple way to download individual video files on your iPhone, so we recommend to just download them all in a .zip file. If you choose the .zip file, you'll want to choose "More" in Safari, then "Save to Files." Then you can select "Preview Content" when viewing the .zip in the Files app, and use the share sheet to save each video to your Photos app.

In order to turn the .m4v video files into live photos, we'll need to use a conversion app. There are some good paid ones in the iOS App Store, but free is always better. Paid options include Live Maker (subscription), Live Studio ($0.99), and intoLive Pro ($2.99). There are also a few free trial ones like LiveMaker Free which only lets you convert five videos before paying and haven't been updated in a long time.

Open up the intoLive app (you will have to grant it access to your Photos library), make sure the "Video" tab is selected, then choose the fish video file you want to convert. On the edit screen, just tap the "Make" button in the top right.

Next, choose "No repeat" on the popup unless you want to pay to repeat the animation twice, three times, or five times. After you've made your choice, tap "Save Live Photos" on the next screen and it will be saved to your Photos app as a live photo. You will have to watch an ad or two, but it's worth it for the price of free.

You can set your new live fish photo as your wallpaper. Go to "Wallpaper" in the Settings app, select "Choose a New Wallpaper," then choose your live photo. In this guide, however, I'll show you how to do it straight from the Photos app, so go ahead and open that up.

Open up the live photo, then tap the share sheet icon in the bottom left. On the bottom row of options, tap the "Use as Wallpaper" option, then tap "Set." On the prompt, select "Set Lock Screen," and you're done.

It would be nice if Apple kept all its previous wallpapers and just added to them in new iOS updates, but for some reason, Apple feels the need to completely remove older ones to highlight fresher backgrounds associated with new iPhones. Too bad.

Hi, I was just wonder if you guys could, by any chance, upload the wallpaper versions for the 6s Plus? The ones for that phone are different and I would like to apply them to my 6s Plus, thank you! And I loved the article!
