IPA Coach Privacy Policy

IPA Coach is an English pronunciation and International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) learning app. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app.
Microphone
IPA Coach requests microphone access only after you start a recording or an intelligibility activity. Recordings made in the practice lab are stored locally on your device so you can play them back. They are not uploaded by IPA Coach.
Speech Recognition
When you use an intelligibility activity, spoken practice may be processed by the speech-recognition service available on your device. Depending on the operating system, device, and settings, that service may process speech on-device or send it to Apple, Google, or another platform provider. Their privacy policy governs that processing. The result estimates whether the target words and sequence were recognized; it is not a biometric, medical, identity, or native-accent assessment.
Local Data
IPA Coach stores the following locally on your device:
favorite IPA sounds
- completed sounds
- drill count
- onboarding choices, accent preference, daily goal, and target sounds
- course activity completion and quiz scores
- intelligibility-check transcripts, scores, and dates
- daily-plan completion and review dates
- user recordings made inside the practice lab
You can remove this learning data and saved recordings with Settings > Reset learning data. Premium entitlement is handled separately, so resetting learning data does not cancel a store purchase.
Advertising
The free version uses Google AdMob to show non-personalized banner ads and frequency-limited interstitial ads at natural breaks. Google and its partners may process device or other identifiers, approximate location derived from signals such as IP address, app interactions, advertising data, and diagnostic information to provide, measure, and protect advertising. IPA Coach does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use this data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Where required, IPA Coach asks for advertising consent before requesting ads. You can review available choices from Settings > Privacy choices when that option is required in your region. Premium users do not receive ads. Google processes advertising data under its own privacy terms.
Purchases
Purchases and restores are processed by Google Play or Apple. IPA Coach receives purchase and entitlement status from the store; it does not receive or collect payment-card details. Store purchase history is managed by the applicable store account.
No Account Required
IPA Coach does not require an account and does not operate its own user-profile server.
Data Retention and Deletion
Local learning data remains on your device until you reset it, uninstall the app, or remove it through device controls. Advertising and speech-recognition providers retain information according to their own policies. Resetting learning data does not remove records maintained by Google Play, Apple, Google AdMob, or a platform speech-recognition provider.
Security
IPA Coach minimizes collection by keeping learning records and practice recordings on the device. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and third-party services are governed by their own security practices.
Children
IPA Coach is a general-audience language-learning app. It does not knowingly ask users to provide names, email addresses, or other account information. Ads are configured for a general content rating. Parents and guardians should supervise microphone and speech-recognition use by children.
Changes
This policy may be updated when app features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest revision.
