IoT-Based Condition Monitoring for Overhead Catenary Tension Adjusters
Overview
IoT-Based Condition Monitoring for Overhead Catenary Tension Adjusters
Temperature changes cause expansion/contraction of contact and catenary wires, varying tension.
Tension adjusters compensate tension changes and maintain stable wire tension in service.
Reliability and safety require regular inspection of tension adjuster operation and condition.
IoT-based wireless system monitors tension adjuster status continuously without commercial power.
Solar-powered monitoring enables scientific and efficient maintenance of tension adjusters.
Core Competencies
Purpose
IoT-based wireless condition monitoring system for overhead catenary tension adjusters, enabling reliable remote monitoring and scientific, efficient maintenance without commercial power.
Sensors, communication nodes, gateway, and server configure the tension adjuster monitoring system.
Each node sends displacement and ambient temperature data via LoRa or LTE links.
Solar modules and batteries power the monitoring system without external commercial power supply.
Developed system can be applied not only to tension adjuster monitoring but also to other IoT monitoring fields.
Expected Benefits
Automated field inspections
– Replaces manual walk-by checks of tension adjusters.
Core technology
– Secures automated inspection and maintenance for expanded, higher-speed electrified railways.
Scientific, efficient maintenance
– Condition monitoring improves maintenance efficiency and on-site convenience.
