Work in progress
Lorenzo is a SEMM PhD student in Computational biology, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from "Sapienza - Università di Roma" and then obtained a master's degree in Bioinformatics from "Università degli studi di Milano - La Statale". He is passionate about the application of machine learning to biological problems, indeed for his master's thesis he developed a convolutional neural network for microglia segmentation. Now, as a PhD student, he's collaborating with an external pharmaceutical company (Nerviano Medical Sciences) to use machine learning to find biomarkers, in cancer cells, associated to the overexpression of surface antigens that could be targeted by Antibody-Drug Conjugates (anti-cancer drugs for targeted therapies).
