You can reach Ioannina by bus or by plane.
Option 1: By Bus
Intercity buses in Greece are operated by KTEL. Tickets can be purchased online here. There are daily direct routes to Ioannina from Thessaloniki and Athens. From Athens to Ioannina, the bus journey takes roughly 6 hours whereas from Thessaloniki to Ioannina, buses are faster, with typical travel times of around 3 hours. Once you arrive at the central bus station in Ioannina which is located here, the city center is about a 20-minute walk away. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for no more than 10 EUR.
Option 2: By Plane
Ioannina is served by Ioannina National Airport (IOA), also known as King Pyrros Airport which is located here. There are regular domestic flights to IOA from Athens Airport (ATH). Once you arrive at King Pyrros Airport, you can reach the city center either by taxi or by public bus. The journey is approximately 15 minutes, and the taxi fare is usually no more than 10 EUR.
