I am a lecturer and research associate (official title in German is Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) in Korean Studies at Centre for East Asian Studies, Heidelberg University, where I have taught since 2019. 

I received my PhD in political science and international relations from University of Southern California, and my MA and BA in political science from Yonsei University, South Korea. My research centers on international relations of East Asia, with a particular emphasis on security issues surrounding the Korean peninsula. I am interested in both historical and contemporary international politics, focusing on the interplay between identity and security practices. I am currently working on three projects: 1) transformation of international order in East Asia during the nineteenth century, 2) nuclear (energy) politics on the Korean peninsula, and 3) South Korean foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific region.
