My name is Finley Elder and I am a multi-media artist from Hamilton, New Zealand. I take an experimental approach to making work, I am inspired by nature, engineering, mechanisms by how things interact. I enjoy creating characters, bringing them to life in paintings, illustrations and even in animation such as stop motion. I also create models out of plaster, wax and materials around the house to create dioramas in the animation videos. It is important to showcase art more as an asset not a liability. I have always been interested in science, not fantastic but I believe art can be applied to science such as the execution of an idea and developing it further like an experiment and in a way this can showcase both the merits of art and science. I enjoy cartoons, graphic novels not superhero comics. In the past I enjoyed picture books, I still read some just to look at the illustrations.
