Dunbar Community Centre
Meet your Clinic Coordinator!
Clinic Coordinator: Josephine DeVirgilio
About Josephine: A writer, entrepreneur and teacher who is passionate about the ongoing journey of encouraging others to take that very next step in fitness. Whether it's walking, running stronger, or learning to run for the very first time.
How long have you been involved with the InTraining Program? 9 Years
What is your favourite InTraining memory? The first day of the program when a participant returned with a beaming smile and a big hug. To share that because of the doubts she had overcome about her abilities towards fitness/running at our clinic, and combined with the encouragement and support from clinic leaders and the well designed InTraining SunRun program, she had successfully climbed Kilimanjaro secretly hiding her SunRun shirt underneath her climbing gear for the big glorious reveal at summit. That was super special. But I have to add one more very memorable and inspiring story, we have hundreds, but this one I love.....A lady came to tell me with tears in her eyes that her husband and children were so proud of her and in awe of what she achieved by training for and completing the 10K run. The pride and gratitude that exuded from her is memorable and inspires us all. .
Favourite place to run/walk? Pacific Spirit Park
What can participants look forward to this year with the Dunbar group? This year, like all years in our Dunbar Clinic, participants may look forward to a team of dedicated leaders who are truly passionate about doing their part to guide and support members of their community through a journey of increasing their current fitness/running/walking level or in taking that first step towards fitness/running/walking. We are all supported by a tried and true program that works and having the amazing SunRun 10K event as an end goal (or for some a brand new start) is fantastic. We facilitate all aspects of the InTraining Program and have a signature warm up routine with music. Our guest speakers are informative and we are one of the lucky clinics that trains on the forest trails of Pacific Spirit Park.
What participants have to say about the Dunbar Community Centre Program:
"Josephine was beyond motivating especially at the beginning when you may be questioning why you had signed up, and whether you could actually go the distance. She is passionate, kind, and an incredible ambassador for SportMedBC's Vancouver Sun Run InTraining Program." - Dunbar Participant
"Pat leads our clinic warm-up each week with vigor, enthusiasm, and a big smile! She is always providing great motivation to get going in sometimes less than stellar exercising weather. I joined her Walk10K group, and was immediately warmly welcomed and introduced to everyone else. She was continually providing great verbal support and feedback while we were moving, motivating us to push that little bit harder each set, and really creating a strong team and group mindset. Pat made an 80 minute walk in the rain fun and inspiring, and feel like a stroll on the beach!" - Dunbar Participant
