Meet your Clinic Coordinator!
Clinic Coordinator: Kathy Ford
How long have you been involved with the InTraining Program? I participated in the InTraining program as a participant (and brand new runner) in 2002, leading me to my first 10K. In 2003, I was asked to be a clinic leader at Burnaby Lake, and I've been leading/coordinating ever since. I became Clinic Coordinator at Cameron Recreation Complex in 2006.
What is your favourite InTraining memory? No one experience stands out. Every year I get the wonderful experience watching people who are afraid they can't realise that they actually can. I will say that the annual Halfway 5K organized by Area Coordinator, Rainy Kent, is always a highlight of the year.
Favourite place to run/walk? Burnaby Lake
What can participants look forward to this year with the Cameron Recreation Complex group? Great support from amazing leaders - The strength you can only get from doing this in a group! We also always have really interesting guest speakers.
What participants have to say about the Cameron Recreation Complex clinic:
"I've had a great time in my training sessions, and especially appreciated coming in contact with a running community in Burnaby. Thank you for providing support and a community for walkers & runners." - Janet, Burnaby Participant
"I've been recommending the program to everyone! Excellent all round! The leaders were always so encouraging, helpful and friendly. They always made me feel very comfortable. I really enjoyed the runs. It was a great way to start a Sunday!" - Burnaby Participant
"Denise (Cameron Leader) has been a great leader because she cares about runners whether they are slow or fast. If someone lags behind she is the first to go and encourage that person. She never gives up on anybody!" - Cameron Participant
"As a new runner at my age, the pace [of the program] was such that minor pains and areas of stiffness/injury were able to heal, and I was able to keep up with the training without overdoing it. So it worked well!" - Bruce, Cameron Participant
