NAME: seele vollerei (actual name); melanie sinclair ("birth name"); kazanari shoko (alias)
AGE: 25
BIRTHDAY: september 13th
PRONOUNS: she/her
SEXUALITY: demi
FACECLAIM: kamukura izuru
Born unnamed, she was given the power of Finality to hold, becoming the one that would put an end to the world that she had been born in-- a bubble universe in which Honkai was easily eradicated and there was no need for anyone to do anything. They, much like the Nibiruns, had lost all to apathy and created their own death. The newborn Herrscher was to become the Herrscher of the End, to destroy them and their world.
A blue bird had come, days before this world's destruction, asking about the meaning of life-- what gave life meaning. The world died soon after, as the newborn was found to have died at some point. In reality, the newborn was lifted by a being known as MULTIVERSE, given new purpose as its soon-to-be "Counter-Guardian". She was placed in the care of the Sinclairs, as the newly born MELANIE SINCLAIR. Her DNA matched that of the deceased baby that had been swapped by the entity, and no one knew who she really was.
However, she wasn't given a good life. From the moment she could read, Melanie was made to study instead of being a normal kid. Her mother, Alice, was obsessed with Korean, Taiwanese, Filipino, Japanese and Chinese cultures, having taken all of them to create her own brand of punishment. She was abusive, beating Melanie, Noah and her own husband with a lot of the culture's own punishments. One of her favourite punishments was giving them inedible foods, which ended with Melanie cooking when Alice was out playing the "perfect wife". It wasn't until Melanie was 10 that George finally had enough and divorced Alice, gaining custody of the kids due to the signs of abuse on both of them and himself. The Sinclairs disowned Alice, actually having not known about it due to Alice's manipulation of the situation, and moved George and the kids to New York, in one of the many manors they owned.
Up until Melanie was 15, she lived peacefully and how the family should have lived instead of under stress and walking on eggshells all the time. Her father remarried when she was 13, to a lovely woman named Karina. The Sinclairs accepted her into the family as one of their own, and all had been well...
At least, until Melanie found herself being shaken awake by a girl who she didn't recognize. Cream-coloured brown hair, orange eyes... who was asking her if she was okay. Due to her mother forcing her to learn various other languages, she could thankfully talk to the girl and learned of where she was-- outside of the stadium for the Zwei Wing concert. Because her best friend couldn't come, the girl, who introduced herself as Tachibana Hibiki, gave the extra ticket to Melanie and helped her out by buying her a glowstick. Having never been to a concert before, Melanie was awed by the concert.
However, as another song was going to be sung, explosions happened. Being told by Hibiki that they were Noise, the creatures that had appeared, the two of them were entranced by Tsubasa and Kanade's fighting. The platform they were standing on blew up, sending them toppling to the ground. Hibiki had hurt her knee and Melanie seemed to have only hurt her arm a little. The two of them were told to run by Kanade, who blocked the Noise from getting to them. Kanade's gear broke apart and Melanie, who was closest, pushed Hibiki out of the line of fire to protect her and ended up getting impaled with a fragment of Kanade's gear.
Hibiki had screamed, trying to get Melanie to wake up. Kanade told Melanie to never give up on living, sacrificing her life so the two could live. It took Melanie a year to recover from the incident, in which she was adopted by Kazanari Genjuro and given the name "Kazanari Shoko". When she was given a choice of going to school or staying home, she decided to attend Lydian with Hibiki and roomed with her instead of the girl who kept stalking Hibiki.
For a while, Melanie lived as "normal" as possible, despite the bullying and traumatic incidents caused by her fellows. Because of this, Melanie turned cold, only softening when she was with people she cared about or her family. It was because of Hibiki that Melanie was able to at least live semi-normally, as the girl dragged her to the arcade and to theaters. Helped her live normally because, as Hibiki put it, "it was out of our control, we had no hand in what happened."
One day, however, Melanie activated Gungnir to protect a child she'd come across. The process was painful- mechanical parts forced themselves out of her body to form her Gear and changed her biology to become a Human-Relic fusion. However, Finé, who was working alongside Section 2, found this to be a bit terrifying. Simply put, Finé was knowledgeable and knew the Gear would eventually corrode Melanie until she was nothing but the Relic. She bade Melanie not to use it much, to preserve her humanity. Melanie did not listen.
After defeating the Moon Killer, who wanted to destroy the moon due to it having a traumatic point to it, Melanie returned to "normal life", as best as she could while being sent out with Tsubasa and a girl named Kohaku Asada, who was the wielder of Ichaival after a lot of testing and searching for the prime candidate for it. Hibiki later joined as the wielder of Caliburn, a relic found by Finé and fashioned into a Symphogear for the girl's use.
While at school, Melanie ended up befriending a girl named Hotaru and introduced her to the others-- but it was more like Hotaru befriended her. She helped out with S.O.N.G, having been rescued by Melanie during an incident in which the sky tower had been attacked while Serena was trying to bring peace instead of continuing to fight, bringing the ma'am with her. Despite this, Doctor Ver had sent Noise at the tower and had caused Hotaru to fall. Melanie had used her Gear to get Hotaru to the ground safely, but had been told off by Tsubasa and called useless on the battlefield not long after that. She was told to stay out of it, as she was no longer needed for anything. However, because a friend of Hibiki's had been kidnapped, Melanie couldn't. It was her that saved the friend, despite sacrificing the last vestiges of normalcy she had. Spears of Gungnir burst through her body in crystalline form, which were painful but didn't stop her from throwing the friend into the light of Shenshoujing at the cost of her own humanity. As the light of Shenshoujing was too weak, it only cleansed the extra organ the relic had made but not the relic itself.
As the first full Human-Relic Fusion, she was suspected to completely be lost, but she retained her sense of self and regained consciousness at least a few days afterwards. Despite the relic having completely bonded with her, Melanie was completely okay. She still went to help stop Frontier from being risen to the sky, and stop Doctor Ver's plans from coming to fruition. It came at the cost of the Gungnir Serena was wearing. Serena activated Airgetlahm, having remembered why she became a wielder in the first place, and assisted S.O.N.G in destroying the Treasury of Babylon.
Although Melanie continued to fight different antagonists through the years of being there (Carol, Saint-Germain, Cagliostro, Prelati, Adam Weishaupt, Vanessa, Millaarc, Elsa, Kazanari Fudo and Shem-Ha Mephorash), she was later spirited away and sent back home. Her family had sent her into therapy, thinking the years-long kidnapping had irreparably damaged her-- which they weren't wrong about.
Despite having become a completely different person after being away from home since she was 15 years old, she still loved her family and had been happy to be back. It took some time to adjust to being able to be normal again, with her going to find a job and failing due to no prior experience or any references to call. Despite her saying it was because of her "kidnapping", no one was willing to hire her. Her brother was the one to offer her an idea- become a delivery driver for a grocery service. He'd pay for her driving lessons, becoming mildly surprised as she went for a motorcycle instead of going for a car. It was easier for her to get around people if she needed, and weaving in and out of the cars was easy enough to get to her destination. Efficiency, she had stated, was the reason she'd gone for the motorcycle. However, on a delivery one day, she was brake-checked by a van that sped out of sight after she had crashed. Unable to keep conscious, Melanie had passed out...
Only to wake in the forest outside of Iselia. Disoriented, Melanie was helped by someone who she later learned was named Lloyd. She was out for three days afterwards, but reluctantly joined him in going to Iselia's schoolhouse once she had woken up. This was where she learned a bit of Sylvarant's history and learned of the Chosen, Colette, and her destiny to journey to regenerate the world. When the Oracle landed at the temple, the teacher, Raine, ran out to check. Lloyd, Colette, Genis and a reluctant Melanie went after her. Deeming to stand guard instead of follow them up the hill, it was only when she heard their cries of pain that she changed her mind, pulling off her pendant and summoning her Gear to take on the opponent, alongside the man named Kratos.
Afterwards, she was hired as a bodyguard to Colette but only made it a part of the way through before she was kidnapped by those running a Human Ranch and forced to cultivate an Exsphere. Hers matured fast, due to the fact that her body was "regenerating Mana at a fast rate", becoming a Cruxis Crystal. This caused Melanie to be taken over by the lifeless being inside of her Cruxis Crystal and be forced to be a bystander for a while. Rescued from the ranch later on, Melanie was given her stuff back and was given a Key Crest on her Cruxis Crystal to hopefully regain her self. She did, and continued journeying with them after somewhat apologizing for not watching out for herself.
After the journey, Melanie was sent back home for a time...
....at least, until she woke up with Hibiki shaking her, just like the first time. Somehow, some way, she'd ended up back with the Gears. Things had been going okay for them, even with the strange new enemies coming around every now and again that made life a bit difficult for the Gear users. But Melanie readjusted to life back there as best as she could for a few months. She met a woman named Starlit, who seemed drawn to her singing, and reluctantly befriended her. All seemed to be well, at least for a time...
...until her birthday, in which Susano'o attacked and Hotaru disappeared. Stricken with grief, Melanie had not seen Susano'o attack until Starlit took it in a strange gear. The woman passed on her Elekleid to Melanie, who took both it and Gungnir and fled out of grief. Using Elekleid's portal system, she leapt from world to world until she found her home...
.....AND IT WAS GONE
The structures were still there, but there was no sign of life anywhere. Going to her home, she noticed that the television was on but there was nothing playing due to the fact that no one was alive. There were no bodies, no people... it was desolate of all life except for her. Returning to her room, she had cried herself to sleep and left the next day, packing a bag of items with her brother's empty laptop case he'd left behind. She left Earth and travelled the multiverse for a time, until she landed on Eorzea.
There, she reluctantly became the Warrior of Light and did as she could to protect others. She would save the realm several times over while keeping many of her secrets close to her heart. She did make some friends, but she wasn't really allowed much time to explore with all the problems of the realm happening almost all at once.
But everything was the same.
Melanie would later save another world, the First, from doom and actually kill her first person- Emet-Selch. To her, the two were kindred spirits and it was awful to her to have to kill him to stop his plans. She had never cried for an enemy before, but she had shed tears on his death. After this, she would go on to solo Lunar Bahamut when he took down most of the Scions during the fight, becoming a Job Stone-less Reaper with her own Avatar, "Kanra". This had Melanie train under Grisella for a time to become a proper Reaper, but she would use her powers only in combat and never outside of it.
She would later find out her world was healthy and whole again, and learn a new system for the Elekleid: Symphonic Drive-- which she would later use upon saving the entire universe from the Song of Oblivion.
Afterwards, Melanie would leave to scour different worlds. She would end up on an alternative Earth yet again and blend in with the populace, using her alias of "Kazanari Shoko" for a time until an Eruption happened. The school was attacked by Honkai Beasts that were drawn to Melanie due to her being a Herrscher (unknowingly). Protecting the school ended up becoming her priority when one of her classmates sacrificed themselves for her to escape. Melanie would don Gungnir and fight as many Honkai Beasts as she could.
Major Himeko was who joined her in the fight. Due to the fact Melanie was standing up against the Honkai in a Valkyrie Battlesuit, she was arrested and taken into custody at St. Freya while her converter pendant was taken from her, as was anything else that could be used as a weapon. She was interrogated about having a Valkyrie Battlesuit despite not being a part of Schicksal's Valkyries and came clean with the truth that it was a battle gear powered by singing, while Elekleid was a hyper-speed suit that she used to mainly travel the multiverse with. It took some convincing but, being unable to pull up any files from prior to her arrival, Theresa Apocalypse was forced to admit that Melanie was telling the truth. She was then enrolled in St. Freya and her pendant, bracelet and any weapons returned to her.
Melanie refused to stand out among the students, but always came in second place to Fu Hua. She was a wallflower most of the time, never interacting with her fellow students until she was made to tutor Kiana Kaslana instead of Fu Hua. This was what got Melanie involved in the events that surrounded Kiana. She would assist in combat and would help out during the training. However, one day Kiana was kidnapped and Melanie was a part of the team to bring her back.
She was the one to fight the Herrscher of the Void, instead of Himeko, to bring Kiana back. Despite her injuries from the fight, Melanie would use Elekleid to chase after a runaway Kiana, effectively making both her and Kiana MIA for St. Freya. Despite everything, Kiana would put herself in harm's way to protect everyone and would have Melanie look after Mei despite the fact that Melanie wanted to go with her.
During Melanie's brief return to Eorzea to help with battling Golbez, she would become the Herrscher of Change in response to her desire to protect her friends. Logged as the "Herrscher of Balance", which became the title everyone called her by, Melanie would use her powers to defeat Golbez and help her friends stand back up.
She would then leave, with Kiana, back to the alternative Earth that they both were staying in. No longer Multiverse's "Counter Guardian", being freed by her awakening into a Herrscher, she was free to do as she wished and her true form was revealed to all- a plain-looking tanned girl who looked similar to Seele.
After a long, difficult journey in which Melanie and Kiana finally admitted their feelings for one another and engaged to be married, Kiana sacrificed her life to seal the Honkai on the moon. She sent Melanie away before that, so she wouldn't be there to witness it. Left alone and adrift, Melanie would then replace her personality with Kiana's pre-HoV personality- a happy-go-lucky girl with a big appetite- to hide her own feelings and sorrow over losing the one she loved.
She would then start to travel the multiverse in an attempt to forget the feelings of pain and sorrow.
