Amelia Randall is the Kent County Council councillor for Birchington and Rural division in the Thanet district, she has made multiple news pages due to her party affiliation.
In May of 2025 she was elected as a Reform UK Councillor, before defecting to the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in September of that year, recently in March 2026 she left UKIP to form her own party, "Better Way Of".
Two days before writing this I emailed her to ask her about her party policy and other details, and she responded quickly, giving me the permission to share what she told me.
On a party ideology Cllr Randall said: "As a party we want to move away from current narratives. We are a balanced party so neither Left nor Right and rather than have an ideology, we are outcome-driven. This means that the decisions we make will be decisive and based on need. "
On coalitions, she said: "If there were to be need for a coalition within government because no party got enough to take control, then we would consider working with other parties. It would be best to assess in that moment, which party is more aligned and which parties are truly open to compromising on things. Balance is always key for it to work."
On nationalisation, she said: "We do not have a solid stance yet. There can definitely be benefits to nationalization over privatization."
On Trans and third gender recognition, she said: "There are only two genders. If an adult feels like they should be the opposite sex to how they were born, then it is ultimately their choice. When going through operations and taking medication for it, we hope that it brings them the peace of mind that they are searching for. We do not agree with the narrative that trans women are real women, or that they can compete in women's sports. We also don't agree with children being brought into this because children change their minds on things several times in their lives and it is wrong to give a child body altering medication or anything else which can mess them up for the rest of their lives."
On Drug Liberalisation, she said: "We fully support the liberalization of Cannabis. There are many studies that show the benefits of cannabis and though we would approach it with care and there will be many factors to finalise, we will be looking to do this as one of our policies."
On abortion, she said: "We disagree with full term abortion. We believe that abortion should only be acceptable if there is a danger to the child or mother, or if the mother has been raped and is unable to mother the child. Abortion should not be used as a means of birth control and if an abortion takes place, it should be within 6weeks because at that point, it has not got a heart beat yet."
On Immigration, she said: "No one can argue that immigration, when controlled and managed in the correct ways, can bring great benefits. It is unfortunate that this has not been the case for a while though, and therefore we need to take some drastic measures to sort things out. Illegal immigration needs to be called what it is and this should not be allowed. Immigrants that are educated, coming here to offer a service and to enjoy a British life, will be welcomed once we have paused immigration for a few years and got rid of those who are known to mean us harm, are in our prison systems, are illegal and those who do not wish to integrate into our communities. Refugees who are genuinely seeking protection from war, such as the Ukrainians are welcome."
On Tax, she said: "We are not going to say much on this at the moment, but everyday people are taxed far too much and deprivation is getting worse instead of better. There has to be a change where tax is concerned."
On party membership, she said: "Yes membership will be opened to the party. We are happy to hear from people who want to join. We have a handful of people who are interested and we have spoken to them in confidence. We would like to create a membership that is full of patriotic humanitarians that are passionate about creating a better way of living for all while being proud of our British culture and values."
