Student teachers are required to write lesson plans with increasing responsibility over the course of the semester. Student teachers must submit lesson plans for initial approval by their clinical educator. Next, the student teacher will submit lesson plans to their university supervisor (by an established due date in Canvas). University supervisors review lesson plans, provide feedback for improvement, and approve the lesson plans before student teachers can teach the material.
At the beginning of the student teaching semester, all undergraduate teacher candidates are required to write lesson plans using the edTPA Lesson Plan Building Template.
Undergraduate teacher candidates may move to use the Minimal Lesson Plan Template at the discretion of their university supervisor and clinical educator.Â
Finally, undergraduate teacher candidates may move to use the Activity Plans at the discretion of their university supervisor and clinical educator.
In some cases, a student teacher may modify the host school's lesson plan template to reflect the components in any one of the lesson plans linked above. Student teachers must be approved to use an alternate template by their university supervisor.
