Role Summary:
The coaching team provides professional development and individualized coaching to educators on the development of compliant, thorough, and student-centered IEPs in accordance with Pennsylvania state and federal regulations. This position focuses on building teacher capacity to understand, complete, and document each required section of the IEP, while informing and educating about the alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
This role does not involve serving as a member of the IEP team and does not involve making decisions about IEP content. All final decisions regarding an IEP are made collaboratively by the IEP team, which includes the student's educators, parents/guardians, and other required participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide training on the components of an IEP, including Present Levels, Measurable Annual Goals, Specially Designed Instruction, Accommodations/Modifications, Progress Monitoring, and Transition Planning (as applicable).
Guide educators in accessing available district, state, and community resources to support the completion of each IEP section.
Offer coaching and feedback on draft IEPs to promote clarity, compliance, and individualized support for students with disabilities.
Assist teachers in understanding legal requirements and procedural safeguards related to IEP development in Pennsylvania.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of special education regulations, state guidance, and district policies.
Respect the collaborative nature of the IEP team and refrain from influencing decisions that must be made jointly by team members.
