This is an intermediate course in formal algebra for students without a strong background in algebra. Topics include sets, the real number system and number properties, absolute value, products and factoring, algebraic fractions, linear and quadratic equations and inequalities with applications, systems of equations, radicals, rational exponents, graphs and relations and functions (four elective credits).

John is the author of several mathematics textbooks and a pioneer of the open source movement who has created products ranging from classroom materials to a graphing calculator application. Molly ONeill is from Daytona State College, where she has taught for 22 years in the School of Mathematics. She has taught a variety of courses from developmental mathematics to calculus. Before she came to Florida, Molly taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Oakland Community College. Molly earned a bachelor of science in mathematics and a master of arts and teaching from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Besides this textbook, she has authored several course supplements for college algebra, trigonometry, and precalculus and has reviewed texts for developmental mathematics.

 I differ from many of my colleagues in that math was not always easy for me. But in seventh grade I had a teacher who taught me that if I follow the rules of mathematics, even I could solve math problems. Once I understood this, I enjoyed math to the point of choosing it for my career. I now have the greatest job because I get to do math every day and I have the opportunity to influence my students just as I was influenced. Authoring these texts has given me another avenue to reach even more students.

The aim of the study is to analyze the content of biology textbook for the intermediate stage through using the criteria of food technology and therapeutic nutrition, which is prepared by the two researchers. The method of content analysis has been adopted to accomplish the paper aim. The results show that the biology textbook (Human being and Health) for the third intermediate school is the highest in repetitions about (59) of (%53,3). The dietary habits have been emphasized within the textbooks of principles of biology for the intermediate stage where the repetitions are (70) with (%63,6). The researchers introduced some recommendations including the necessity to include biology textbooks concepts and ideas about food technology and therapeutic nutrition. Also, some suggestions introduced as conducting similar studies on the textbooks of biology for the secondary and primary stages.

Teachers will examine best classroom management practices and instructional strategies for teaching intermediate-aged children. Dr. Anita Archer serves as an educational consultant to state departments and school districts on explicit instruction and literacy. She has presented in all 50 states and many countries including Australia. She is the recipient of 10 awards honoring her contributions to education. Dr. Archer has served on the faculties of three universities including the University of Washington, University of Oregon, and San Diego State University.
