Cassie Frost, M.S.Ed, has been in the special education field for fourteen years, teaching in environments including a residential treatment facility, an alternative school and the public school system. She has specialized in utilizing technology with students who struggle with emotional and behavioral disabilities, autism, and behaviors resulting from intellectual or learning disabilities. Cassie presents at a regional and national level, including Closing the Gap, ATIA and ISTE on technologies that enable access and engagement for students.

Session Description

With access to technology in the classroom being more present than ever, come and learn ways to maximize your ability to create and modify lessons to reach each and every student.

This session will focus on tools that are easily used to provide access and ease of use for all students

Participants will explore Chrome Extensions that provide features such as text to speech, speech to text, organization, notifications, and more. Examples of extensions that will be demonstrated include: Read and Write for Google, Tab Snooze, Speak in Slides, Extensity, and many more.

Additional time will be spent on web tools that can be used for lesson creation, lesson modification, and classroom management that meets the needs of all students. Participants will explore new tools as well as new ways to use existing tools. Topics discussed will include Padlet, Classroom Screen, Bouncy Balls, and many more!

The tools shared are all tools that can be utilized immediately with little advanced preparation.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to identify at least 3 web tools/sites that can be used to increase engagement and support executive functioning.

Participants will be able to identify at least 3 chrome extensions that can be used to modify the web browser to better meet student needs.

Participants will understand how to locate extensions and add them to their chrome account.
