1) Target Professional Audience:
The professional audience for my field experience internship will be the University Supervisors at Coastal Carolina University. The pilot group of supervisors, most of whom are retired educators/administrators, are responsible for evaluating student teachers (interns) in various educational settings. Given their limited experience with technology and the need for a streamlined process, this project will specifically address their professional development in using iPads and Microsoft products to manage, store, and share digital paperwork during their student evaluations.
2) Sponsoring Organization and On-Site Supervisor
The Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences at Coastal Carolina University will be my sponsoring organization. Betsey Costner, Director of Clinical Placement and Educator Licensure, will be my on-site supervisor and my work will have hybrid responsibilities both on CCU’s campus and remotely from my home. Mrs. Costner’s supervision will provide guidance and oversight throughout the field experience, ensuring that the deliverables align with the project’s goals and the specific needs of the University Supervisors.
3) Duties and Alignment to Course Student Learning Objectives (SLOs):
Analyze: Conduct a needs assessment to identify the specific challenges and requirements of the University Supervisors regarding the use of their ipads, paperwork and obstacles with using digital paperwork and cloud-based management.
Design: Develop a training program that instructs supervisors on creating digital folders on their iPads, downloading necessary documents, and preparing for offline use in schools with limited or no Wi-Fi.
Develop: Create instructional materials, including a step-by-step guide and a video tutorial, demonstrating the process of setting up and using digital folders on iPads. Create a cloud-based “one-stop-shop” for University Supervisors documents and files.
Implement: Facilitate the training session, either in person or via Zoom, and provide ongoing support as the supervisors begin to implement the new process.
Evaluate: Gather feedback from the supervisors and assess the effectiveness of the training, making adjustments as needed.
4). Alignment with SLOs:
Develop a shared vision to lead an instructional technology innovation:
The training program will establish a shared understanding of the importance and benefits of digital paperwork management, fostering a collective vision among the University Supervisors.
Evaluate and select technology tools and strategies that improve teaching, learning, and performance:
The project will involve evaluating iPad functionalities and selecting the most effective tools for document management, ensuring that the supervisors can efficiently carry out their evaluations.
Conduct a needs assessment:
I will begin by assessing the current technology usage and the specific challenges faced by the supervisors, using this information to tailor the training program.
Design, develop, and implement technology-enhanced learning experiences for your adult learners:
The training will be designed with the adult learners' needs in mind, focusing on practical, hands-on experiences that build their confidence and competence in using this educational technology.
Identify benchmarks to measure the impact of the innovation and to guide future improvement:
I will establish clear benchmarks, such as the supervisors' ability to create and manage digital folders independently, and use these to measure the training's success and identify areas for improvement.
4) Modalities to Facilitate the Field Experience
The field experience will be facilitated through a combination of in-person and online modalities:
In-Person Training: I will conduct the initial training session on August 22, 2024 in-person in the Lib Jackson Student Union (Room A213) from 1:30-2:30, where I will guide the supervisors through the process of setting up their iPads for digital paperwork management.
Asynchronous Video Tutorial: Recorded video tutorials will be provided, allowing the supervisors to revisit the training content at their own pace and as needed.
This mixed-modality approach ensures that all supervisors, regardless of their location or comfort with technology, can access and benefit from the training.
