To install Facebook and Instagram by Meta you need to have a Facebook account and an online store. If you don't have a Facebook account when you install Facebook and Instagram by Meta in your Shopify admin, then you'll be prompted to sign up for one.

Our dev team noticed that we had accidentally installed the Facebook pixel twice on our site via Google Tag Manager: once from Facebook natively, and once from Hubspot's tracking code. They are essentially asking, which piece of code should we keep? Both pieces of code contain the Facebook pixel, but one piece of code comes from HubSpot, and one comes natively from Facebook.

If we were to remove Facebook's version of the code, our concern is losing the conversion event tracking that we set up manually using Facebook's method. I understand that if we don't have the HubSpot tracking code on our website, we will lose some website tracking in HubSpot so I wouldn't want to remove that, but it seemed like they were toying with the idea of editing the HubSpot code to remove "facebook.js" since we already have the Facebook pixel installed natively. What do you think?

hi krystina, we are implementing hubspot tracking code and are taking your advice to not use the hubspot pixel code. Just to confirm, if we install the hubspot tracking code and SKIP the part where we use facebook pixel within hubspot then we will be all clear to embed the pixel code from facebook onto our website.

How do you set up the facebook pixel properly so that it tracks all conversions on our site? Right now we have our facebook pixel added to the proper section on the Square settings - but we can see that it's not working on the Facebook backend. Is there a way to manually add the code into our site?

If your company falls under the CCPA, or you want any of your California customers to be under Limited Data Use with Facebook, you should enable Limited Data Use for any of your ad accounts with a pixel that you've installed through HubSpot. Learn more about Facebook's Limited Data Use.

You can test to see if your Pixel is working by installing the Google Chrome Extension, Meta Pixel Helper. Once you have that downloaded, go to the URL you created the Pixel for and click on the Pixel Helper Extension in the top right corner and cross-check to make sure the Pixel ID matches the one you created.

But the beauty is that for these standard events, there is no coding necessary! The Page View event is written into the base code of your Pixel and tracks any time someone visits a page on your site that has the Pixel installed.

I'm having the same issue after uninstalling the FB app and trying to re-install it. I've signed out and signed back in (Shopify, FB etc.), tried different browsers and cleared my cache, but the error keeps appearing.

But while trying to open the facebook from the icon created on the desktop side bar, it just pops up and displays the initial facebook screen and then hangs. The whole linux hangs and not able to kill any process.. only restart is the possible option.

In this guide, I will show you how to install Meta Pixel with Google Tag Manager (not only basic pageviews but also other things, like events). The topic is quite extensive. Therefore, I recommend buckling up and diving into this. Also, consider subscribing to my newsletter to stay up-to-date with GTM.

Back in the older days (pre-2019), the only way to install Facebook Pixel via Google Tag Manager was by using the Custom HTML tag template. This meant working directly with JavaScript code, editing it a bit, etc.

A new screen will come up, asking you whether you want to install it manually or via a partner integration. Choose Manually add pixel code to website, and the browser will redirect to a new page.

Excellent writeup. Question if you have time: I created a PageView tag to send data from my dataLayer. I see when testing I get two page views, one with no data (perhaps one that facebook sends automatically?) and one with my data. Should I somehow disable the one without data, and if so, how would I do that? I'm using gtm-templates-simo-ahava.

excellent article! thank you very much! but I have a question. I have to set several facebook pixels that must activate based on certain keywords in the URL. how can I manage them better? I'm currently using 5 pixel variables with 5 regex tables. but it's a huge job since I always have to add new pixel codes for my company. is there a way to create such a condition with regex table compatible with gtm and facebook pixel? example: If the URL contains HOME, then activate these pixels 111111,22222,3333 if the URL contains GARDEN then it shows these pixels 4444,5555,6666 etc? I wish I could manage multiple pixels per page by managing them all from a single regex table. is it possible in your opinion? Thank you a lot

Great article. I found this super helpful. I think it might be worth including some information about how to properly pass an Event ID using the facebookarchive GTM client-side tag when Facebook Conversion API deduplication is needed for things like Lead events. Mistakenly I tried passing my ID using the tag's "Object Properties" section. But, what I should have been using was the dedicated "Event ID" field under the "More Settings" config section. Other people might make that mistake too.

I tried resetting on the computer, and also on the iphone several times but everytime i tried to install facebook and typed in the user (email address) and new password, it says it doesnt recognize it. My other option is to create a new id which isn't an option becuase i dont have another email address to use. There were times when i tried and it would point me to itune.

You will now see the Meta Pixel code that needs to be added to the "Header code" of your funnel pages. If you want to install the code to all the pages of all of your funnels, you can put it in the "Tracking Code" field under "Sales funnel settings"

2.5 Copy the code, install it on your website as mentioned above, and then click on "Continue".

Now you will be given the option to activate "Automatic advanced matching", this is optional and it is up to you.

2.6 Click on "Continue" to proceed.

You can now set up events on your website by clicking on "Open event setup tool".

The event setup tool doesn't always work and in this example, we will be manually adding the event code to the "Meta Pixel code".

2.7 For the manual option, click on "Install events using code" and you will be redirected to a page that shows you how to add events to the "Meta Pixel code".

Now that your Pixel has been set up and installed, you can test it to see whether it is working.

Click on "Test events", enter the URL of your website in the field below labeled "Test browser events" and click on "Open Website"

If you are having difficulty installing Facebook, check that you have enough storage for the app. If you have an older device or limited storage, it might be worth considering installing Facebook Lite which uses less space and data.

There are a couple of reasons you may not see the green indicator. First, make sure you disabled any adblockers on your kvCORE URL as mentioned at the top of this guide. Secondly, it's possible that although you saved your pixel in website settings, the site may not yet be updated. Try holding down Ctrl+Shft+r to refresh the website. If this still doesn't work, your website may in fact be cached, and you'll need to wait till later to double-check it, or restart Chrome. In lieu of restarting, I would first continue on past this testing step and proceed with the rest of the installation guide. You can then restart your Chrome browser after installing the second part of the pixel to test.

At this stage, you are presented with information about Facebook Events. Now, the standard pixel we installed tracks page views. The event code tracks when something happens, and reports that as well.

If you are not experiencing this, but have followed all of the instructions, and installed both codes, close your chrome browser and re-open it. Your pixel code might not yet have been published to your kvCORE site after saving it.

MonsterInsights is the best Google Analytics plugin for WordPress, and with its PPC Ad Tracking addon, you can install your Meta (Facebook) Pixel and track conversions from your ads in just a couple clicks.

I have installed both the latest versions of the WooCommerce plugin (v5.1.0) and Facebook for WordPress plugin (v2.3.2) and then I go to Facebook Business App Store and try to install WooCommerce Integration to Facebook by Automattic but I continually get the following message :

If you have taken over an existing store or already installed a Pixel on your store and you want to use a new one, you should first remove any old Pixel from your store to avoid duplication of Meta Pixels and conveyance of incorrect data.

To ensure event tracking is working properly, you need to test the browser and CAPI events. This will let you know whether the Facebook Pixel and Conversion API are installed correctly or not. You can view the respective section in this blog to test your browser and server events on your website. 2351a5e196
