INSTACLAW
Privacy Policy
How we handle your data — clearly and honestly.
Effective Date: April 30, 2026
1. Overview
Instaclaw is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We have designed Instaclaw to be private by default — your AI agent runs on your own infrastructure, and we never sell your personal information.
By downloading or using Instaclaw, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account or use Instaclaw, you may provide:
Your name and email address (for account creation and support)
Payment information (processed securely by our payment provider; we do not store card details)
Agent configuration preferences, persona settings, and onboarding responses
Support requests and communications with our team
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Instaclaw iOS app, we automatically collect limited technical data:
App version, device model, and operating system version
Crash reports and diagnostic logs (used solely to fix bugs)
Session timestamps and general feature usage patterns (aggregated and anonymized)
2.3 What We Do NOT Collect
Because your AI agent runs on your own machine or self-hosted infrastructure, we do not have access to:
The content of your conversations with your agent
Your emails, calendar events, files, or messages processed by your agent
Data from third-party apps and services your agent connects to (Gmail, Slack, GitHub, etc.)
Your agent’s memory, stored context, or skill configurations
This data lives on your infrastructure, not ours.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
Account management: to create, maintain, and secure your Instaclaw account
App functionality: to authenticate you and enable the one-tap deployment experience
Product improvement: to identify crashes, fix bugs, and improve app performance
Customer support: to respond to your questions and resolve issues
Legal compliance: to meet our obligations under applicable laws
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data to any third party, ever.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
4.1 Service Providers
We work with a small number of trusted service providers who help us operate Instaclaw:
Payment processing (e.g., Stripe) — for subscription billing only
Cloud infrastructure (e.g., for app distribution and account services)
Crash reporting tools (e.g., for anonymous diagnostic data)
These providers are contractually bound to use your data only as directed by us and in accordance with this policy.
4.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud.
4.3 Business Transfers
If Instaclaw Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before any such transfer occurs and before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Crash logs and diagnostic data are retained for a maximum of 90 days.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you reside, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Deletion: request that we delete your personal information
Portability: request your data in a portable format
Objection: object to certain uses of your information
Withdrawal of consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@instaclaw.app. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Children’s Privacy
Instaclaw is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@instaclaw.app and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We take the security of your information seriously. We implement industry-standard measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure credential storage, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Please use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication where available.
9. International Data Transfers
Instaclaw Inc. is based in the United States. If you use our app from outside the United States, your limited account data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using Instaclaw, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Instaclaw after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
