Can you see who views your Instagram?
Would you like to check your Instagram stalker?
Well, today I’ll show you step by step how you do it!
At the end of the article, you’ll be able to find out who your secret admirer is, and don't worry: you won’t have to click on a sketchy link and you won’t have to give me your Instagram password or something like that
I’ve seen that there are a lot of scammers online that try to get you into sketchy websites or apps and they ask you for your Instagram password or other details like your email
If someone says you to install a “magical app” to see who is stalking your profile and then they ask you to login into your account, please run away as fast as possible
Scams like that are very common and you’re giving your personal account detail to an unknown app
Please, never give your personal information to strangers, especially if they don’t come from a branded platform like Instagram and Facebook
Sometimes they also try to send you fake Instagram emails that look like the original ones, saying that you can find your secrets stalkers or things like that
Before putting your personal details or your password, or maybe signing up for a paid software, always double-check the trustability of the author
So, like I said when I was talking about buying Instagram followers (by the way, if you are interested in buying followers and likes on Instagram, read this article before) always be aware that they could scam you in many different ways
I’m not saying this to scare you, but only to warn you about all the dangers online: some scammers are really smart and if a particular day you’re maybe stressed or tired, you could fall for it
I’ve been scammed in the past, in a period when I was under a lot of stress, so I don’t want you to do my same mistake
Here some recommendation when you search for these types of sketchy things (is valid for Instagram as for anything else):
don’t use your first email, or an email that you use for some account: create a brand new email
don’t use your first credit card: I always recommend using a new card, like N26 because it’s completely free and you can use it when you’re not sure at 100% of the trustability of the website
Never put your personal detail and password: if they require your personal credential, write fake information (don’t do it with a trustable company, do it only if you’re not sure)
Ok, after this introduction, let’s dive into the actual tutorial
It’s quite simple and you won’t need to install third-party apps
In fact, Instagram hates third-party apps, and if you use them, chances are that you’ll get banned very quickly
So, if someone is saying you that you should install some app to see who is stalking you, be suspicious: your personal details could be stolen and Instagram could see that you’re using this app and it will ban you
But, if you can’t use a third-party app, how can you see who views your Instagram?
We’ll use the official Instagram analytics
And we’ll do it by analyzing what your story views order really means
Yes, I know that you were expecting something crazy or some insane trick, but trust me, there are no other ways to find your Instagram stalker without risking your account or getting banned by Instagram
So, how can you analyze the order of your story views to find out who is visiting your profile the most?
Everybody knows that, when you post a story, you’ll see that the people who have viewed your story are not in chronological order, so you might wonder what’s going on and why some names are at the top and some are at the bottom
The truth is: nobody really knows why
Instagram never officially said anything about how the algorithm chooses the order of the story views
Internet is full of conspiracy theory about how the Instagram choose the order of your story views, but today we’ll do a step further
First of all, let’s see what we know for sure, no theory or random things, just straight facts:
The list is not chronological: it starts being that way, but after you reach a certain amount of views, the algorithm change the order of your views and it’s not chronological anymore
We also know that the list is not ordered only based on the public interactions (likes, hashtags, or comments)
But now things become interesting: there’s a whole theory that’s quite popular on the internet, but it’s not a totally random hypothesis, because it has some evidence behind it
According to this theory, people who view your profile the most (they don’t have to engage with it, just view it) are the ones that are popping at the top of your story views
But saying it is not enough
They have done a step further and they tested this theory
A few people on Reddit have created a bunch of fake Instagram accounts and for a few days they used these accounts to spend time viewing their actual Instagram profile
They didn’t interact with the account: 0 likes, 0 comments, 0 shares, they just watched the account like an actual stalker!
Also, the main profile never viewed the fake accounts
And the results were pretty astonishing!
After a few days, the real profile shared a story, and guess which profiles popped up at the top of the story views list?
Exactly, the fake accounts
They didn’t interact with the main account at all, and still, they were at the top of the list!
After this experiment, they created another account using a different email address and they repeated this experiment
They stalked the main profile without interacting with it: they watched his stories and posts multiple times a day, but they never liked or commented, acting as an anonymous stalker
After only 3 days, guess who was the first account in the story view list?
Right, the fake account!
There are tons of this experiment online and pretty much everyone has the same results!
Paige Thelen Cohen, who works at the Technology Communications at Instagram, said that similar to the feed posts, stories are ordered based on which content you care about the most
It means that the order is based on a number of signals including:
the likelihood that you’ll be interested in the content
the timeliness of the post
your relationship with the person posting
Now things start getting interesting because she also said that profile visits are considered as well as likes and comments
It means that when you go to Instagram and you see the stories on top, they are ordered based on your interests
And your interests are defined by your engagement with the account and the time spent on his profile
Instagram is really smart and it could easily use all the data of profile visits that they’ve already collected to order that story view list: it makes sense and there are some pieces of evidence behind it
Plus, a lot of experiment has the same positive results, so it’s not 100% sure, but there is a serious possibility that it works
I was still a little suspicious, so I tried it by myself
I created a new Instagram account with a different email address using the phone of my mom to have 2 separate devices
Then, I started spending a lot of time seeing my stories and my posts using the fake account but, like in the other experiments, I didn’t interact with the content at all
After a week, I published an Instagram story and you know which account was in second place on my story view list?
Yes, my fake account
So, if you don't believe me, try it by yourself
Follow the simple instructions that I provided you before and see what happens
Make sure to spend a lot of time “stalking” your profile, not just a couple of minutes, and do it multiple times a day for more days
I hope that this article has been useful
So, in the end, can you see who views your Instagram?
Yes and No
Yes because now you can understand who is stalking you without using dangerous third-party apps that could steal your personal information ad get you banned from Instagram
No, because this method is not 100% sure, but, in my personal opinion, if someone doesn’t like and comment on your posts, but he always appears at the top of your story view list, it’s entirely possible that’s something there
So, don’t take this information like gold because they’re not officially confirmed by Instagram, but make sure to never, never use some sketchy app or website that promises you to see exactly who is stalking your account right now!
It’s the worst thing you could do, especially if they ask for your personal information or your password
This has nothing to do with Instagram, but it’s more an “advice of a friend”
Instead of trying to know if your crush is “stalking” your profile, just DM him/her and ask him/her out
I promise you that it works way better than just downloading some scammy app to know if he/she is looking at your account
I hope I helped you to make the right decision and to be always aware of the dangers and the dark side of the Internet
