InRotate: Rotation Lock
InRotate: Rotation Lock
Effective date: September 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how InRotate: Rotation Lock ("InRotate", "the App", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the App.
InRotate is designed as a privacy-focused utility. Its core functionality operates locally on your device. The App does not require an account, does not contain advertising, does not use analytics or tracking services, and does not sell or share personal information.
InRotate does not collect, upload, sell, rent, or share personal data with us or third parties.
The App processes a limited amount of device information locally when necessary to provide its core rotation-lock functionality.
This may include:
names of launchable applications installed on your device;
application icons;
application package identifiers;
the package identifier of the application currently in the foreground;
applications you select for rotation locking;
the current system screen-rotation state;
locally stored App preferences such as theme and onboarding status.
This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
InRotate uses the Android AccessibilityService API solely to detect when the foreground application changes.
This allows InRotate to determine when an application selected by you becomes active and when you leave that application, so that the App can temporarily apply or restore the appropriate screen-rotation setting.
The Accessibility Service is used only for this narrow functionality.
InRotate does not use the Accessibility Service to:
read or collect text displayed in other applications;
read messages, emails, passwords, form fields, or typed content;
inspect the content of documents or web pages;
capture screenshots;
record the screen;
perform clicks, gestures, scrolling, or other UI interactions on your behalf;
access contacts, photos, videos, audio, or files;
monitor browsing history;
create user activity profiles;
transmit Accessibility data to any server or third party.
The package identifier of the foreground application may be processed temporarily on the device to determine whether a rotation rule selected by you should be applied.
InRotate is not an accessibility tool intended to assist users with disabilities. Accessibility access is used only because Android provides this mechanism for detecting application changes in the background without requiring a permanent foreground-service notification.
Before directing you to Android Accessibility Settings, InRotate provides an in-app explanation describing why this access is required and requests your affirmative consent.
You can disable InRotate's Accessibility Service at any time through your device's Accessibility Settings. If you disable it, automatic per-app rotation locking will stop working.
InRotate requires permission to modify system settings (WRITE_SETTINGS) for its core functionality.
Android requires you to grant this access manually through the system's special-access settings.
InRotate uses this capability only to temporarily control relevant screen-rotation settings when you enter or leave an application that you selected.
The App may:
determine the current system rotation state;
temporarily disable automatic rotation when required;
preserve the relevant rotation state;
restore the previous system rotation state when the rule is no longer active.
InRotate does not use this access to modify unrelated system settings.
You can revoke this permission at any time through Android Settings. If the permission is revoked, InRotate will no longer be able to apply rotation-lock rules.
InRotate displays launchable applications installed on your device so that you can choose which applications should use rotation locking.
For this purpose, the App may locally access limited application information such as:
application name;
application icon;
package identifier;
whether the application can be launched by the user.
This information is used only to display the application-selection list and execute the rules you configure.
InRotate is designed to use limited Android package visibility appropriate to this functionality and does not require unrestricted access to all packages through QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES.
Installed application information is not uploaded, transmitted, shared, or used for advertising or profiling.
InRotate stores only the information required for its functionality and preferences on your device.
This may include:
the applications you selected;
rotation-related configuration;
temporary state required to safely restore system rotation settings;
theme preference;
onboarding completion state;
other basic App configuration.
This information is stored locally in the App's private storage.
You can remove locally stored information by clearing InRotate's application data or uninstalling the App.
InRotate's core functionality does not require an external server.
We do not operate servers that receive:
installed application information;
Accessibility Service data;
rotation activity;
usage history;
device activity;
personal files or content.
When you choose the Privacy Policy option inside the App, Android may open this Privacy Policy in your browser. Your browser and network provider may process that request according to their own privacy practices.
InRotate does not contain:
AdMob or other advertising SDKs;
analytics SDKs;
behavioral tracking SDKs;
advertising identifiers;
cross-app tracking;
marketing trackers.
We do not create advertising profiles or track your activity across applications or websites.
InRotate is distributed as a paid application through Google Play.
The App does not contain an in-app billing system and does not process your payment information.
Purchases and payment transactions related to downloading InRotate are handled directly by Google Play under Google's own terms and privacy policies.
We do not receive your payment card information.
InRotate does not require access to your:
precise or approximate location;
contacts;
calendar;
microphone;
camera;
photos or videos;
music or audio files;
documents or general device storage;
SMS or call logs.
If the App's functionality changes in the future and additional access becomes necessary, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
We do not sell, rent, license, or share user data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or other third parties.
Because the core functionality is processed locally, application-selection data and foreground-app information remain on your device.
Information saved by InRotate is retained locally only for as long as it is required to preserve your settings and provide the functionality you configured.
You can delete this information at any time by:
changing or removing selected applications inside InRotate;
clearing InRotate's application data through Android Settings; or
uninstalling InRotate.
Transient information used to determine the currently active application or restore rotation state is used only as required for the active functionality.
We do not maintain a remote user database containing this information.
InRotate follows a data-minimization approach.
Sensitive functionality is performed locally wherever possible, and the App is designed to access only the information necessary to provide its stated purpose.
No method of software operation can guarantee absolute security, but limiting processing to the user's device substantially reduces unnecessary transmission and exposure of data.
InRotate is not designed to collect personal information from children.
Because InRotate does not operate user accounts, advertising systems, analytics services, or remote personal-data collection systems, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.
We may update this Privacy Policy if InRotate's functionality, permissions, Android platform requirements, or applicable policies change.
When material changes are made, the updated policy will be published at the Privacy Policy URL associated with the App and the effective date above will be revised.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or InRotate's privacy practices, you can contact us using the developer contact information provided on the InRotate: Rotation Lock Google Play listing.
