If you want rugged durability, a low profile for tight parking garages, and the flexibility of mounting on either side with a one-handed opening mechanism, choose INNO ROOF Gear CASE; if you need a streamlined design focused on reducing wind noise and a straightforward, corrosion-resistant shell for general outdoor adventures, choose PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box.
• INNO ROOF Gear CASE: Its biggest strength is the specialized low-profile height (under 2.1m total on vehicles like the Jimny) and external locking lever that maximizes internal cargo space; the trade-off is its specific matte black finish and Japanese manufacturing build which may not appeal to those seeking a generic look. This pick is for the driver who values precision engineering and frequent access to multi-story parking.
• PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box: Its biggest strength is the aerodynamic, streamlined shape designed specifically to cut wind resistance and noise at high speeds; the trade-off is the lack of detailed dimension data in the sheet and a more generic "one size" approach compared to the precise cubic footage of its competitor. This pick is for the traveler prioritizing quiet highway driving and rust-free longevity in harsh weather.
The INNO ROOF Gear Case BRM720MBK is engineered for the person who treats their roof box as a permanent fixture of their daily life, not just an occasional add-on. The defining feature here is the "Lowdown" design philosophy. By keeping the profile exceptionally low, it allows owners to navigate into multi-story parking structures without scraping the roof or hitting overhead barriers. For example, when mounted on a compact vehicle like a Suzuki Jimny, the total height remains under 2.1 meters. This isn't just about aesthetics; it is a functional necessity for urban commuters who also love weekend getaways. If your routine involves driving through city centers, university campuses, or crowded campgrounds with low clearance, this specific height constraint makes the difference between a smooth day out and a frustrating scrape.
Inside the box, the engineering shifts focus to maximizing usable volume. Unlike many competitors that hide the locking mechanism inside the lid—eating up valuable interior space—the INNO case places the external lever clamp on the outside. This design choice ensures that every inch of the 11.5 cubic feet is available for gear. Whether you are hauling skis, snowboards, or tailgating supplies, there are no internal mechanical obstructions to squeeze around. The capacity is substantial enough to hold four snowboards or six to eight pairs of skis, making it a serious contender for winter sports enthusiasts. Furthermore, the symmetry of the front and rear allows you to mount the box so it opens from either the left or right side, giving you ultimate flexibility depending on where you park your car relative to other obstacles.

This product is ideal for the buyer who needs tool-free installation on various bar types, including Aero, square, round, and factory crossbars. The Memory Mount System ensures that once you have set it up, it stays put without needing constant adjustment. However, if you are looking for a box that comes in multiple colors to match a custom paint job, or if you require a box that can be easily disassembled into two halves for storage when not in use, this might not be the perfect fit. It is a robust, single-piece unit designed for durability and ease of access rather than modular storage. The matte black finish is sleek but specific, and the heavy-duty construction suggests it is built to last years of rigorous use without degrading.
The PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box targets a different segment of the market: the driver who spends significant time on open highways and cares deeply about the acoustic environment inside their cabin. In a world where fuel efficiency and cabin comfort are paramount, a box that cuts through the air cleanly is a massive advantage. The material choice is equally critical; constructed from high-quality ABS with a wear-resistant oxide layer, it offers excellent corrosion and rust resistance. This makes it particularly suitable for those living in coastal areas or regions with harsh winters where road salt and moisture are constant threats to metal or lower-grade plastics.
For the owner of an SUV or larger vehicle, the "non-destructive installation" aspect is a key consideration. The ability to assemble and disassemble without damaging the vehicle's existing rack system appeals to those who want to remove the box entirely when they don't need it, perhaps to improve gas mileage or to store the box flat in a garage. The anti-theft lock cylinder and reinforced locking buckle provide security, ensuring that the contents do not loosen or slip even on bumpy off-road trails.
This box is best suited for the buyer who wants a reliable, low-maintenance solution that blends seamlessly with the "atmospheric appearance" of an off-road vehicle. It does not seem to offer the same level of granular customization regarding mounting orientation as the INNO case, nor does it boast the specific low-height certification for parking garages. Instead, it leans heavily into the fundamentals: durability against the elements, quiet operation, and secure latching. If your primary use case involves long-distance travel on paved roads where wind drag is a concern, and you value a simple, robust lock-up system over complex internal mechanisms, this PFXXRENG model addresses those needs directly. It is a practical choice for anyone who wants their gear protected without adding a loud, rattling presence to their journey.
• Best for tight parking spaces → INNO ROOF Gear CASE. Its verified low profile keeps total vehicle height under 2.1 meters, preventing issues in multi-story garages where taller boxes fail.
• Best for highway silence → PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box. The streamlined shape is explicitly designed to minimize wind noise and resistance, offering a quieter ride at speed.
• Best for maximizing internal space → INNO ROOF Gear CASE. The external lever clamp removes internal obstructions, utilizing the full 11.5 cubic feet for gear without interference.
• Best for rust-prone environments → PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box. The high-quality ABS with a wear-resistant oxide layer provides superior corrosion and rust resistance for long-term exposure.
• Best for flexible mounting → INNO ROOF Gear CASE. The symmetrical design allows the box to be mounted to open on either the left or right side, adapting to your parking habits.
• Best for easy removal → PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box. The non-destructive assembly and disassembly make it simpler to take off completely when not needed compared to fixed-mount systems.
• Best for winter sports → INNO ROOF Gear CASE. With a specific capacity rating for 4 snowboards or 6-8 skis, it is tailored for heavy winter loads.
• Best for general utility → PFXXRENG ABS Roof Box. The focus on large capacity and universal compatibility with SUVs makes it a solid all-rounder for varied outdoor essentials.
After analyzing the specifications and intended designs of both units, I would personally buy the INNO ROOF Gear CASE. While the PFXXRENG option offers a quiet ride and rust protection, the INNO case solves the most annoying problem of roof storage: getting stuck in a parking garage. The combination of the low profile, the external locking mechanism that saves interior space, and the ability to open the box from either side creates a far more versatile user experience. For a trip involving tailgating, where you need to unload quickly and often, the one-hand opening and ample, unobstructed 11.5 cubic feet make it the superior tool. It feels less like a generic container and more like a purpose-built piece of equipment for the serious enthusiast.
The product information lists only "One Color" and "One Size," suggesting a standard finish rather than a variety of choices, unlike the specific Matte Black of the INNO case.
Both models feature anti-theft locks, but the PFXXRENG emphasizes a reinforced locking structure with a cylinder and buckle, while the INNO features a safety lock system where the key can only be removed when the box is fully locked.
Yes, the design specifically accounts for low clearance, noting that on vehicles like the Jimny, the total height remains under 2.1 meters, which is generally sufficient for standard multi-story parking.
