Royal AU  Felix was born into royalty, but his family has not always been on the throne. Only two generations back his grandfather and the then current royal family, the Freede's was at a constant war for who was rightfully king. After a terrible crime, the Richter family murdered the current king and queen in their beds. Taking the crown for themselves. The whole family was almost wiped out but a few still resides, and is now challenging Felix for the crown. And Felix has taken one of the Freede children as a ward to try to keep them in check.

And if that was not enough for the king, he also have rebels in the forest to deal with. Nobility at risk traveling between towns as these criminals attack them. And Felix is sure they are working with the traitors trying to steal his crown. 

Felix clearly favors humans and while he does not attack others for not being human, he sees them as lesser. Beneath him and everyone else.
