Offer A Hand Up Counseling is dedicated to offering individuals a helping hand up from the despairs of addiction through support, education, counseling, groups, and referrals. The mission of Offer A Hand Up Counseling is to provide individuals with prevention, intervention, and rehabilitative skills and tools necessary to recover and maintain sobriety from their addiction and substance abuse. Offer A Hand Up Counseling will provide education, assessments, screenings, treatment planning, discharge planning, individual counseling, small groups, and referrals for adolescents and adults, ages 12 and older.
Chanelle Lawson, Ph.D- Bio
Chanelle Lawson is a survivor of childhood sexual trauma and domestic violence. She has experiential knowledge of the impacts of unhealed trauma and unresolved grief. Ms. Lawson’s perspective and expertise enables her to provide efficient and effective services to the clients she supports. Ms. Lawson attributes her resiliency and ability to cope with adverse situations to her faith. Ms. Lawson truly believes counseling is her chosen profession and people are my ministry. She considers herself to be an intuitive healer. Ms. Lawson is a published author who recently chronicled her journey of self-reflection and self-discovery in “My Evolution as a WOMan as Defined by the Men in My Life”. Ms. Lawson also published an accompanying 30-day journal. Spirituality is an important part of who she is since age 13. She completed her life’s work, her dissertation, on “Spirituality and The Christian Woman” to discuss the disparities in women of faith acknowledging and disclosing domestic violence in marriage, as well as, accessing mental health care.
Ms. Lawson has over nineteen years of experience working with adults and adolescents with severe, persistent mental illness, substance abuse, serious emotional and behavioral disorders, and developmental disabilities. Ms. Lawson possesses a Ph.D in Christian Counseling and Chaplaincy. She is sole proprietor of Offer A Hand Up Counseling in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is dedicated to offering individuals a helping hand up from the despairs of mental health and addiction through support, education, counseling, groups, and referrals. Ms. Lawson is a Certified Life Coach, Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC), Level II Certified Alcohol and Drug Coordinator (CADAC II), and Certified Clinical Supervisor(CCS) in the state of Indiana. Ms. Lawson is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the IC & RC board and a Certified Behavior Specialist through the TN Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. She is also a Stephen’s Minister, a Spiritual Care Volunteer at a Women’s Hospital, and is affiliated with various mental health foundations, coalitions, and organizations.

This book is prescriptive non-fiction book of self reflection and self discovery as the author seeks to understand patterns within her intimate relationship, and how those patterns we're developed from adverse childhood expericences. There is a section after each chapter for the reader to conduct their own self reflection, leading to their own self discovery.
