Pallet = Universal Interface. More specifically/contextually: Standardized, universal interface between manufacturing processes/steps, allows for consistent transfer of variable workpieces
Dictionary = a portable platform for handling, storing, or moving materials and packages (as in warehouses, factories, or vehicles)
Fixtures or workholding devices by themselves are not necessarily pallets, although fixtures can also be pallets, or - more commonly - you can palletize fixturing
Items that look like pallets, but do not consistently and repeatable locate/interface are not pallets
Similar rules/definitions to fixturing, but applied to the pallet itself, rather than workpieces
Manual Pallet Changing = Fixturing of pallet into & out of process/system done entirely by hand
Semi-Automatic = Fixturing of pallet into & out of process/system done partially controlled/automatically, by still requires manual input
Automatic = Fixturing of pallet into & out of process/system done automatically
