From Passion to Purpose: Building a Movement That Codes, Speaks, and Empowers
Starting CoHo Organization wasn’t just an extracurricular pursuit. It was the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey. As a curious and driven individual, I always believed in building something impactful from scratch. I didn’t just want to create a club. I wanted to create a movement.
🌱 The Spark: Where It All Began
It all started with a simple question: "What if we could learn without limits?" I saw too many of my peers struggling with stage fear, lacking direction in coding, no practical knowledge and feeling left out from opportunities that should've been inclusive. I believed that everyone deserves a chance to learn, grow, and lead - regardless of background or confidence level.
That belief led to the birth of CoHo Organization - a non-profit, student-run powerhouse that would soon grow into one of the most dynamic communities on campus.
👥 From 0 to 1150+ Members: The Power of Vision
We began with a team of dreamers. I personally interviewed each and every passionate individuals to join the core crew, hand-picking people who were not just talented, but shared the vision. The mantra was clear: "Learning Along with Guiding".
What started as a few meetups quickly grew into a vibrant ecosystem of 1150+ members, all united by the love for learning, coding, and personal transformation.
đź’» Coding with Purpose
It was built with one mission in mind: to transform beginners into efficient coders and to help them gain practical exposure. We conducted:
Hands-on Workshops.
Collaborative Hackathons & Projects.
Sessions on Cutting-Edge Technologies.
We weren’t just learning to code - we were building solutions that mattered, preparing students to thrive in real-world environments.
🎤 Beyond the Code: Empowering Public Speaking
But technical skills weren’t enough. I wanted CoHo to nurture confidence and communication, especially for students who feared public speaking.
So, we launched:
Debates, Speech Competitions & JAMs
Thought-provoking Events
Guest Talks with Industry Experts
Our goal was simple: transform stage-fear into stage-fierce. Watching shy students evolve into confident leaders was — and still is — the most fulfilling part of my journey.
🛤️ The Roadmap: From Idea to Impact
Foundation Phase - Interviewed crew, designed core values, mission and structure.
Launch Phase – Recruited members, began small-scale sessions, grew our presence.
Acceleration Phase – Introduced verticals, collaborated with guest speakers, scaled to hundreds.
Sustainability Phase – Established a self-driven culture, encouraged mentorship, and created leadership pipelines.
Every step of the roadmap was handcrafted with care, strategy, and love.
❤️ CoHo: Not Just an Organization, But My Soul
CoHo wasn’t just something I built - it became a part of who I am. The people, the late-night planning, the endless brainstorms, the spark in someone’s eyes after their first successful talk or code - that’s what kept me going.
My entrepreneurial DNA was shaped here. I learned how to lead, inspire, fail, adapt, and rise. CoHo gave me more than leadership experience - it gave me purpose and the taste of entrepreneurship.
🔮 What’s Next?
While CoHo is a living legacy that continues to thrive, my mission goes on. I’m now exploring ways to productize the CoHo spirit, making learning even more accessible across digital platforms, and perhaps one day, turning this journey into a global learning movement.
Because when passion meets action, anything is possible.
đź’ˇ Final Thought
"Starting CoHo was never about creating a club. It was about igniting a revolution in learning, coding, and confidence. And this is just the beginning."
— Indu Kandula, Founder of CoHo Organization
