I, like a lot of you, am an indie author. Any budget I have is spent on hiring editors and cover artists, marketing, or buying more books. So this minimalist approach to a website is pretty necessary. I just really wanted something like this to exist.
That said, it should still help you meet your next favorite indie author and find these amazing books, if you use a few of the shortcuts on your computer.
Search
(I'm sure the authors will be very familiar with this shortcut.)
PC: Ctrl + F
Mac: Cmd + F
Android: Open the browser menu and click "Find in Page"
iPhone: Click on the address bar, type in the search, and click just underneath "On This Page"
Each Book has key words and phrases (like Urban Fantasy or Friends to Lovers) attached to it to make finding the right book a little easier. Using the search feature, you can jump to each book that has that keyword. For example, if you wanted a children's book about Farm animals, you might click on the "By Genre" Tab, click on the "Children's" link, type Ctrl and F together, and search for "Animals" in the window that pops up.
Fill out the Forms
Whether you're an indie author, or an indie book reader, you can click on "Add an Indie Book" and fill out the form to let me know what titles need to be on this site. The reason I wanted to create this, is to connect readers to the authors and books they didn't know existed. Taking a few minutes so I can get that information out will be a huge help.
Add Events
Adding Calendar events is free and can help others find out about your book releases, author signings, and upcoming conventions
Paid promotional banners and Announcements can help get eyes on new releases and upcoming events.
Click the Links
I'm not talking about the Amazon links, though obviously that's one of the goals of this site, but please click on the social media links and follow these authors. Sign up for their email lists. Leave reviews on their Goodreads. It's so hard to reach an audience in the indie world; every new follower makes a huge difference.
