Effective date: September 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how InAwake: Keep Screen On ("InAwake", "the App", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the application.
InAwake is designed as a privacy-focused Android utility. Its purpose is to keep the device screen awake while specific applications selected by the user are active.
InAwake operates locally on your device. The App does not require an account, does not use advertising, does not use analytics services, and does not operate a cloud backend for collecting user data.
InAwake is designed according to the principle of data minimization.
The App:
does not create user accounts;
does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other identity information;
does not collect location data;
does not access contacts;
does not access photos, videos, audio files, or documents;
does not access the camera or microphone;
does not collect browsing history;
does not collect message content;
does not use advertising SDKs;
does not use third-party analytics SDKs;
does not sell personal information;
does not share app activity with advertisers or data brokers;
does not transmit the list of selected applications to our servers;
does not maintain a history of applications you open.
Certain information about applications on your device must be accessed locally for InAwake's core functionality. This is explained below.
InAwake needs to display applications that the user can select for the keep-screen-awake feature.
For this purpose, the App may locally access limited information about launchable applications installed on your device, including:
application name;
application icon;
Android package identifier.
This information is used solely to display the application list and allow you to choose the applications for which InAwake should keep the screen awake.
InAwake does not upload, transmit, sell, or share your installed application information.
Where supported by Android, InAwake uses scoped package visibility mechanisms intended to identify normal launchable applications. The App is not designed to obtain unrestricted access to all system packages.
When you enable the InAwake toggle for an application, its Android package identifier is stored locally on your device.
This local information is required so that InAwake can determine whether the currently active application is one that you previously selected.
Selected application identifiers:
remain on your device;
are not uploaded to our servers;
are not shared with third parties;
are not used for advertising or analytics;
are not used to build a profile of your activity.
You can remove an application from the selected list at any time by disabling its toggle in InAwake.
Clearing the App's storage or uninstalling InAwake removes locally stored InAwake data from the device according to standard Android behavior.
InAwake uses the Android Accessibility Service API for one specific purpose:
to determine which application is currently active so that the screen can remain awake only while an application selected by the user is in use.
For example, if you select a reading application, InAwake can recognize when that application becomes active and temporarily prevent the normal inactivity timeout from turning off the screen.
When you leave the selected application, InAwake stops keeping the screen awake and normal Android screen timeout behavior resumes.
For its core functionality, the Accessibility Service may process limited app-level information locally, such as:
the package identifier of the currently active application;
application/window transition events necessary to determine which application is active.
InAwake does not use the Accessibility Service to:
read text displayed in other applications;
read passwords or authentication information;
read messages or private conversations;
inspect user-generated content;
capture screenshots;
record the screen;
monitor keyboard input;
collect typed text;
click buttons on your behalf;
perform gestures on your behalf;
automatically control other applications;
collect a history of applications you use;
create behavioral profiles;
transmit app activity to a remote server.
The Accessibility Service is used only for the narrow functionality required to identify the active application and apply the keep-screen-awake behavior.
InAwake is not an accessibility tool intended to assist users with disabilities.
Before asking you to enable the Accessibility Service in Android system settings, InAwake provides a separate in-app disclosure explaining:
why Accessibility Service access is required;
what information the service can access for InAwake's functionality;
how that information is used;
that relevant processing occurs locally on your device.
The service is enabled only after an affirmative action by the user and must ultimately be enabled manually through Android's Accessibility settings.
You may disable InAwake's Accessibility Service at any time through your device settings.
If Accessibility access is disabled, InAwake will no longer be able to automatically detect the active application and its core per-app keep-screen-awake functionality may stop working.
When an application selected by the user is active, InAwake may use an Android accessibility overlay window configured to prevent the normal inactivity timeout from turning off the display.
This technical overlay:
is not intended to display floating controls;
does not accept touch input;
does not capture keyboard input;
does not read the contents of the application underneath it;
does not capture screenshots or screen recordings;
is used only as part of the keep-screen-awake mechanism.
InAwake does not intentionally wake a screen that the user has manually turned off and does not bypass the Android lock screen.
The user remains able to turn off and lock the device normally using the device's Power button.
InAwake uses only permissions and Android capabilities necessary for its core functionality.
The App includes an Accessibility Service protected by Android's BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE permission.
This permission allows the Android operating system to bind to the service after the user explicitly enables it in system Accessibility settings.
It is used solely for the functionality described in this Privacy Policy.
InAwake requires limited visibility of launchable applications so that they can be displayed and selected by the user.
The App is designed to use the narrowest Android package visibility mechanism appropriate for this purpose.
The core functionality of InAwake does not require access to:
precise or approximate location;
contacts;
call logs;
SMS messages;
phone state;
microphone;
camera;
photos or videos;
music or audio files;
documents or other user files;
calendar data;
Bluetooth devices.
InAwake is also designed without a persistent foreground service notification for its normal core functionality.
InAwake does not operate a backend service for collecting application activity or selected application information.
Information required for the core functionality is processed locally on your Android device.
We do not use this information for:
advertising;
marketing profiles;
behavioral tracking;
cross-app tracking;
analytics;
user profiling;
sale of personal information.
InAwake does not contain advertising.
The App does not integrate advertising networks such as Google AdMob.
The App does not intentionally integrate third-party analytics services for tracking user behavior.
No information about selected applications or active applications is shared with advertising networks or analytics providers by InAwake.
InAwake may be distributed as a paid application through Google Play.
Payments, purchase authorization, installation entitlement, and related Google Play services are handled by Google.
InAwake does not receive or store your:
credit card number;
bank account information;
Google account password;
complete payment credentials.
Google may independently process information related to Google Play usage under Google's own terms and privacy policies.
InAwake stores only the minimum local information required for its functionality, primarily application package identifiers selected by the user and normal application preferences such as interface settings.
This information remains stored locally until:
you change or remove the relevant settings;
you clear InAwake's application data;
or you uninstall the App.
InAwake does not maintain a remote database containing this information.
InAwake does not sell, rent, trade, or disclose locally processed application activity or selected application information to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Because this information is processed locally and is not uploaded to our servers, we do not use it for commercial profiling or advertising purposes.
InAwake is designed to minimize privacy and security risks by keeping core processing on the user's device and avoiding unnecessary collection and transmission of information.
No method of software operation can guarantee absolute security. However, InAwake is designed to avoid storing or transmitting information that is not necessary for its core functionality.
InAwake is a general-purpose device utility and is not specifically directed at children.
The App does not intentionally collect personal information from children or other users through its own servers.
You remain in control of InAwake's functionality.
You can:
choose which applications are enabled in InAwake;
disable individual applications at any time;
disable InAwake's Accessibility Service through Android settings;
clear locally stored App data through Android settings;
uninstall InAwake at any time.
Disabling Accessibility Service access prevents InAwake from detecting the currently active application and therefore disables the main automatic keep-screen-awake functionality.
This Privacy Policy may be updated if InAwake's functionality, Android platform requirements, or applicable privacy and Google Play requirements change.
When material changes are made, the updated version of this Privacy Policy will be published with a revised effective date.
The App's actual data practices will remain consistent with the disclosures provided to users and applicable Google Play requirements.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or InAwake's privacy practices, you may contact the developer using the developer contact information provided on the InAwake Google Play listing.
