According to legend*, the ancient Mesopotamian goddess Inanna (Akkadian: Ishtar, Egyptian: Isis, Hungarian: Boldos), Queen of Heaven and Earth, decided to visit her sister Ereshkigal, the mistress of the underworld and queen of the shadow realm. She descended into Hell, where she was slain, and then ascended at the end of the third day. When she returned, she was not the same as before her descent: she was changed and reborn, and now she carried the power of the underworld within her.

So she descended into her own shadow realm and took in all that she found there, in the process of which, instead of experiencing the parts of herself with which she had previously identified, she found the wholeness of herself. Similarly, in the process of self-discovery, we must take ourselves on such a journey. Instead of doing it for us, She is there to hold us, to guide us as we descend into our own inner shadow realm. We can never fall from Her grace. Her light illuminates the path for us to become truly ourselves.

Like Inanna, I have been confronting my own shadow parts for quite a long time, and I am constantly rebirthing myself in a deep transformation. It is for this reason that I want to help those who come to me to see their fullest selves, to point to the light that the Goddess can show us, and with Her help, to hold space for their own healing processes during the process of finding their own fulfillment.
