I have yet to experienced the simplicity but yet effectiveness of Hornet plugins anywhere else , I love the sleek streamlined look design of all their plugins , no unnecessary parameters no clutter, just the simplicity of high quality audio delivered to your ears.
HoRNet plugins went on sale and I picked it up for just about 15 dollars. Not bad for a Pro-Q 3 clone, plus a few extras. My only "complaint" thus far is that the plugin window itself gets a bit choppy at times, but it still functions as expected and the workflow is quite smooth. You can turn any EQ curve into a dynamic EQ with a single button. You don't have as much control over these dynamic points as you might in a traditional dynamic EQ but it's a nice quick option for making adjustments to your sound.
I love the plugin. It could be easily a 5/5.
But I find two things that are really annoying and if fixed they would make this plugin stands out from the competitors:
1) the Bypass button is lighted when is on, and this some of the time if you work with limited time could be annoying because you see the light and you think that the effect is on while it's the opposite.
2) Autogain! In 2023 it's very annoying that expecially distortion/saturation plugins that tends to build up a lot of gain has not autogain feature. This is useful for both comparing the before/after without being biased by the volume difference, and also for time consuming I don't have to fix the output level everytime I make a change in my preset (expecially with the mix knob).
There are so many high-end high-prized plugins out there, which give you some distortion/saturation here and there. But in the end, they do all the same: They add some even and odd harmonics here and there. With Graffio I can do the same, but under full control. Highly recommended. (@FL-Studio users: Ensure to setup 'fixed buffers' for this plugin)
The saturation feature, along with the adjustable frequency cutoff points and wet/dry controls for each frequency range, make this a good alternative for bass enhancement plugins when used in moderation. I've already found it useful for helping both kick and synth bass parts cut through the mix and have a bit more thickness and "thump." Thanks!
HoRNet Plugins launched several 24-hour freebie deals lately, including offers on plugins like HoRNet TrackUtility MK2 and the Graffio Multi-Band Saturation Effect. I wish the deals were at least 48 hours long, giving us journalists more time to cover and share them with the readers. :)
I've never bothered with headphone correctional plugins before, but I was very pleasantly surprised by VHS. I find myself leaving it on most of the time, even during recording, because my headphones sound a lot more neutral through it. Plus the room simulations gives the sound "context" (in lack of a better word).
I recently picked up HoRNet's AutoGain Pro and AutoGain Pro Mk 2 plugins, which are automated volume-riders. Stick them on a track and they will monitor the difference between the track's volume and something else (another track, or a constant reference level). There'a a Gain parameter that is constantly moving up or down so as to keep the track output at the desired level regardless of the input signal level.
