Stand By Me (1985)
This retelling of the Stephen King novel centers on a group of boys in small-town Castle Rock who go on an adventure to find a dead body.
The film was primarily filmed in the small town of Brownsville, OR. As they set off, the boys are walking along the old Oregon, Pacific & Eastern Railway line near Cottage Grove (the same territory used in Emperor of the North). Today, much of this abandoned line has been converted to a paved bike path, including the steel bridge they cross next to the Mosby Creek Covered Bridge. This spot was also used in Emperor. A nearly identical shot as the middle one was seen in Emperor, using the same OP&E #19 locomotive.

One of the most iconic scenes in the film occurs when the boys face an oncoming steam train while in the middle of a massive railroad bridge. This was filmed on an old McCloud River Railroad bridge near Lake Britton in northern California. McCloud River Railroad #25 is the locomotive that nearly kills them, which today is in use by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, OR.
