Shanghai Noon (2000)
Shanghai Noon (2000)
This western comedy features Jackie Chan as Chon Wang, a Chinese man who makes his way to the American Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. Train robber Roy O'Bannon (Owen Wilson) becomes entangled in the plot and soon the two become an unlikely duo.
Early in the film we see Wang heading west on a caboose as Roy attempts to rob the train ("Golden Pacific RR #68"). This was filmed in Alberta using MacMillan-Bloedel #1077 (with embellishments including a balloon stack and wooden cab). Today, this engine operates at Fort Steele Heritage Town in Cranbrook, BC.
A deleted scene on the DVD features much more steam train action, including a crash sequence using a model train.
