The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing (1973)
The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing (1973)
This gritty 70s western featuring Burt Reynolds as an outlaw features some great train footage in one sequence.
The film opens with Burt waiting to board a passenger train at a desolate stop called "Wamsutter." This was filmed with the Virginia & Truckee's #11 "Reno" (repainted as the "Great Plains Central RR") with V&T's Baggage Express #1 and Coaches #19 and #15, shortly after their move to Old Tucson.
We see Burt jumping aboard Coach #19 as the train takes off. Sadly, this car along with #1 were completely destroyed by the 1995 fire at Old Tucson. The Reno was also badly burned but salvaged and today is on display in Virginia City, NV.
The robbery scene turns bloody as Burt and gang make their escape. I believe this was filmed on a short line near Old Tucson.
As word gets back to town, we see a depot set at Old Tucson.
