This horse race epic starring Viggo Mortensen featured one quick train scene as he travels cross-country with Buffalo Bill (J.K. Simmons). 

Sierra Railroad #28 makes the cut in one shot passing over camera. My guess is the trees were added digitally, as this does not match the Jamestown landscape. You can currently still see her in operation at Railtown 1897 State Park.
