Initiative for Multilingual Studies

Welcome to the Initiative for Multilingual Studies!

Georgetown University is historically renowned as a center of applied linguistics, second language acquisition and use, and language learning and teaching. It has also recently become a major center of brain-based research on language learning. The Initiative for Multilingual Studies (IMS) is a collaborative effort among faculty and students across a range of different departments and programs at Georgetown University. We seek to expand capacity for cutting-edge inquiry into multilingualism across diverse perspectives of linguistics, the humanities, education, and neuroscience.
