• 참가자들의 연구 경험과 특성을 고려하여 올해부터 일반 부문과 새내기 부문을 나누어 운영합니다!!

  1. 일반 부문: '새내기 부문' 참가 자격에 해당하지 않는 POSTECH 전체 구성원

  2. 새내기 부문: 2026학년도 1학기 또는 2학기에「새내기연구참여」 교과목을 수강한 학생들이 참가 가능한 부문입니다. 

• 두 부문은 예선 및 본선에서 심사와 시상이 각각 별도로 진행됩니다(일정은 동일).

• 자세한 운영 방식은 아래 안내 내용을 참고해주세요~!

• 예선심사
  - 스크립트 또는 동영상을 Blind로 심사하여 상대평가로 진행 / 내부 심사기준을 통해 총 7명 내외의 본선 참가자를 선발 (일반 부문 4명 내외, 새내기 부문 3명 내외 선발)
  - 예선 심사위원: 학생/교수/교직원 등 공정성과 다양성을 고려해 구성

  • 본선심사
    - 과학계/비과학계로 이루어진 심사위원 3인이 3분 발표를 평가하며, 발표 후 심사위원과 3분 가량의 질의 응답을 갖습니다.
    - 본선 심사위원:
        1) 김응빈(연세대학교 시스템생물학과 교수)
        2) 서지현(POSTECH 인문사회학부 교수)
        3) 김승기(POSTECH 환경공학부 교수)
    - 심사위원은 다음의 가이드 라인을 따라 심사합니다.
         1) 연구의 배경과 목적을 명확하게 제시하였는가?

     2) 연구의 과정 및 결과를 정확하게 설명하였는가?

     3) 연구의 결론과 그 중요성을 정확하게 설명하였는가?

     4) 비전문가인 청중이 이해하기 적합한 언어를 사용하였는가?

     5) 발표의 구성과 스토리텔링이 청중의 흥미를 끝까지 유지하기에 적합하였는가?

     6) 소품, 발표 제스처 등 다양한 요소를 적절히 활용하여 내용을 효과적으로 전달하였는가?

※ 새내기연구참여 부문은 연구 과정에서의 경험과 배운 점을 얼마나 효과적으로 전달하는지를 중심으로 평가하며, 연구의 성공·실패 여부는 심사에 반영되지 않습니다.

1. What is “Introducing My Research” (IMR)?

• It's a competition where you introduce your research in just 3 minutes, without PowerPoint slides!

• You can use props that you can carry onto the stage yourself.

• The key is how clearly and effectively you communicate your research to an audience from various backgrounds!

• All POSTECH members, including undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and professors, are welcome to participate!
  ※ Students who have completed or are currently taking the “Freshman Research Participation” course in 2026 must apply for the Freshman Division.

2. What is the difference between the General and Freshman Divisions?

Starting this year, IMR will have two separate divisions to take into account participants' different research experiences and backgrounds!

• General Division: Open to all POSTECH members who are not eligible for the Freshman Division.

• Freshman Division: A newly introduced division for students who completed the “Freshman Research Participation” course in Spring 2026 or are currently taking it in Fall 2026.

Both divisions will follow the same competition schedule, but judging and awards will be handled separately for each division in both the preliminary and final rounds.

3. How will the competition be evaluated?

Preliminary Round

• Scripts or videos will be evaluated through a blind review process. Approximately 7 finalists will be selected based on internal evaluation criteria (around 4 from the General Division and 3 from the Freshman Division).

• The preliminary judging panel will consist of students, professors, and staff members to ensure fairness and diversity.

Final Round

• Three judges from scientific and non-scientific backgrounds will evaluate each 3-minute presentation, followed by approximately 3 minutes of Q&A.

  3. Prof. Seung-Ki Kim (Division of Environmental Science and Engineering, POSTECH)

Evaluation Criteria

1. Does the presentation clearly explain the background and purpose of the research?

2. Are the research process and results explained accurately?

3. Are the conclusions and significance of the research clearly explained?

4. Is the language appropriate and easy for a non-specialist audience to understand?

5. Is the presentation well-structured, with engaging storytelling that keeps the audience interested?

6. Does the presenter effectively use props, gestures, or other presentation techniques to communicate the research?

4. When is the competition? How do I apply?

1) Application Deadline: November 10 (Tue.), 2026

• Click the application button at the top of this page and complete the form.

• Submitting your presentation script is required. A video submission is optional!

• Finalists will be announced after the preliminary review.

• Those who submit their application form and script earlier will have priority in choosing their presentation order for the final round.

2) Preliminary Review & Announcement of Finalists

• During the third week of November

3) Final Competition

• Date & Time: November 25 (Wed.), 2026, 16:00–18:00

• Venue: Changeup Ground Event Hall

• The event will begin with a keynote lecture by Prof. Eungbin Kim (Department of Systems Biology, Yonsei University) at 16:00, followed by the final presentations.

5. I'm having trouble preparing my presentation... Any tips?

• IMR follows a format similar to FameLab, so watching FameLab competition videos can be a great way to prepare!

• Many of our previous finalists also worried, "Can I really do this?" before stepping onto the stage.

• Trust yourself and give it a try! You might discover a talent you never knew you had!

6. Are there any prizes? (Participants / Audience)

Of course! We have some great prizes for both participants and audience members!

General Division

• Grand Prize (1 winner): KRW 2,500,000

• Excellence Award (1 winner): KRW 1,000,000

• Encouragement Award (2 winners): KRW 500,000 each

Freshman Division

• Grand Prize (1 winner): KRW 2,500,000

• Excellence Award (1 winner): KRW 1,000,000

• Encouragement Award (1 winner): KRW 500,000

Audience members will also have a chance to win exciting prizes through a lucky draw! More details will be announced later.

Previous prizes included a Balmuda toaster, Samsung air purifier, Galaxy Watch, Apple Watch, robot vacuum cleaner, and more!

7. How many POSTECHian Activity Mileage (PAM) points can undergraduate students earn?

• 100 PAM points for applying to the competition and submitting a script.

• An additional 50 PAM points for winning the Grand Prize or Excellence Award.

• 20 PAM points for attending the event as an audience member (completion of the event survey is required).
