Dr. Garcia Peraza (she/her/ella) is the faculty advisor of the IMC Collaborative. She's currently an assistant professor in cultural and developmental psychology at CSU Sacramento. She is Salvadoran American and first in her family to graduate from college. Collaboration and hands-on mentoring students is her approach to working with students in the lab. Aside from being a prof, she loves spending time with her loved ones and getting outside with her dog.
Dr. Madrigal-Garcia (she/her/ella) is a faculty collaborator in the IMC Collaborative. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at California State University, Sacramento. As an interdisciplinary feminist scholar in education, her research centralizes the experiences of minoritized students along the PK-20 educational pipeline, by exploring agency, organizational structures, and policies. Dr. Madrigal-Garcia’s experiences as an immigrant (Mexican-Salvadoran), first-generation, and grassroots organizer inform her teaching, research, and community efforts. She is passionate about engaging in transformative work in an educational and community contexts.
Current Graduate Research Assistants
Auva is a second-year graduate student who also completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Criminal Justice at Sacramento State. During her time in undergrad, she did research on marginalized identities in higher education, specifically on the experiences of first-generation women of color in graduate school. Currently, her project examines how counterspaces serve as a form of resistance in academia for women of color faculty. Aside from being a student, she loves traveling, Disneyland, and her dog.
Current Undergraduate Research Assistants
Ares (he/him) is a third-year undergraduate student in Psychology. Finding interest in understanding behavior and how factors of the environment shape individuals. Particularly, the intersectionality of identities and marginalized groups, such as the LGBTQIA+ community. In his free time, Ares enjoys various arts and crafts, learning about the backgrounds of fictional subjects, and mostly relaxing with friends. Who describes him as ambitious, funny, and creative!
Katie (she/he/they) is a first-generation college student attending Sacramento State University, finishing Bachelor of Science degree at CSUS. Katie is majoring in Psychology, minoring in Latin American Studies. They are interested in studying psychology from different multicultural perspectives. She plans to continue their studies in Clinical Psychology to attain a Master’s in Science. Whenever Katie finds time for herself, they enjoy trying new foods, coffee, cooking, reading, and going to concerts.
Natalia is currently in the final year of undergraduate studies at Sacramento State. In Natalia's free time, Natalia enjoys spending time with friends and family, going on walks or hikes, and listening to music.
AnnaLisa Lopez is a first-generation student that will be graduating with her undergrad at Sacramento State University this Spring. After graduation, she intends to enroll into a graduate program that focuses on neuroscience. Outside of school, AnnaLisa loves backpacking, gardening, or anything outside.
Quinn O’Connor is a senior Psychology major pursuing her Bachelor of Arts at CSU Sacramento. She is inspired by her lived experiences to provide psychological support to her community through culturally competent services and research. She intends to continue her studies in Community and Social Psychology at the graduate level by earning her Master's and PhD. Beyond her role as a student, she and her service dog Gojira enjoy exploring nature, road trips, and staying active.
