International Moot Court Competition

Over the years, the IMCC in Law & Religion has brought together students from universities across the world to engage with some of the most complex legal questions arising at the intersection of law, religion and fundamental rights.

The Competition focuses on the protection of freedom of thought, conscience and religion, as well as on the principle of non-discrimination on grounds of religion or belief, through a comparative examination of two major systems of rights adjudication: the European Court of Human Rights and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Participating teams are called upon to address a common hypothetical case, adapted to the specific legal framework of the jurisdiction before which they compete, and to develop their arguments through both written submissions and oral advocacy.

In 2027, the Competition will celebrate its tenth edition at the University of Milan Law School, renewing its commitment to international academic exchange, comparative legal reasoning and advocacy on questions that remain central to contemporary constitutionalism and human rights law.
