Shaykh Ismail was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India, where during his high school years he devoted himself to memorizing the Qurʾān. His passion for Islamic knowledge took him to Darul Uloom Deoband, known as ʾUmm al-Madāris. He spent six years formally seeking knowledge of deen; he also studied under the esteemed guidance of Muftī Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri, former Shaykh al-Ḥadīth and commentator of Ḥujjat al-Bālighah. He specialized in Islamic jurisprudence and regularly writes articles on the theological writings of Maulana Qasim Nanotvi, the founder of Darul Uloom Deoband. Later, he moved to Canada to pursue a master’s degree in business, balancing his secular studies with teaching and leading halaqas at GICC in Surrey, BC.
