Whitney Pagan

Dr. Pagan holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering from Oklahoma State University, where she began her research career investigating vegetation effects on soil erosion. Dr. Pagan received her PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee, where she studied modeling of bioretention cells for stormwater management. Following her PhD, she earned a USDA postdoctoral fellowship at Penn State University studying land use and climate change in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed using the SWAT model. Dr. Pagan has also studied the water quality impacts of circular agricultural systems for recycling agricultural wastes such as manure and food-waste compost. Her research interests combine field and modeling studies to investigate the hydrology and water quality of “integrated hydrologic landscapes” which bring together her expertise in both urban, agricultural, and natural landscapes. She is an active member in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (EWRI-ASCE). Dr. Pagan will joined the faculty of the School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Georgia as an Assistant Professor since January 2023.
