Jeevanjyoti Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur. Earlier, he held postdoctoral positions in applied mathematics at the University of Oxford and the University of Birmingham. He had a three-month stint as DST-INSPIRE Faculty at IISc Bangalore before joining IIT Kharagpur. He completed all his degrees – Dual Degree (integrated B.Tech and M.Tech) as well as Ph.D. – at IIT Kharagpur. His research interests span across fluid and solid mechanics together with electrochemical effects. He is especially interested in the mathematical modelling of energy storage materials, fluid flows through deformable confinements, and certain mechanical aspects of biological cell growth. His Ph.D. work (on micro-scale flows) was adjudged as one of the five best across all engineering disciplines by the INAE (2014). He received the Faculty Excellence Award at IIT Kharagpur (2017). He was selected as an associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences in 2017.
