Debashis Pal is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 2017, M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore in 2003, and B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta in 2000. After the completion of Masters Degree at IISc, he joined the R & D Centre of Fluent Inc. at Pune, India in 2003 and worked there as an Application Engineer for five years. During his industrial appointment, he gained experience in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), rotating-machinery, Volume of Fluid (VOF) modelling and compressible flow. He was awarded with University Gold Medal (in 2000 at JU) and S V Sastry Memorial Medal (in 2003 at IISc) for exemplary performances in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, respectively. His research interest focuses on transport phenomena in microfluidic devices, unconventional pumping, mixing and dispersion in microfluidic separation systems.
