Conferences, Papers and Standards

Centers of Expertise:

The Centers of Expertise (CoE) is an IES Standards initiative for Interoperability and Compliance testing and Educational Services for industry and academia. Centers of Expertise are established by IES member institutions actively developing IEEE standards under IES sponsorships.

CoEs are established globally by IES member institutions to provide regional CoE support to industry and IES members world-wide. Regional centers will be in Europe, Asia, North America, and Latin America.

First CoE is currently being established in Portugal, with following CoEs starting in Japan. Other regions are being planned.

Conferences, Papers and Standards:

The Standards group sponsors, co-sponsors and organizes Special Sessions at IES conferences to focus on standards and related topics. Spearheaded by Standards Committee members, many such topics of special interest will have relevance to standards.

The Standards Group also facilitates standards-oriented articles representing the relevant areas covered by the Technical Committees in the IE Magazine. Guest editors will be sought to shepherd authors and articles of relevance to the IES membership to keep them updated on emerging standards and works in progress.

Continued progress will be carried out by the Standards Group to further enhance and highlight industrial standards - past, present, and future - to keep the membership abreast of technologies that impact their technical areas of interest.

INTEROP Plugfest:

The Standards group sponsors and organizes INTEROP Plugfest at IES conferences to focus on active standards development and related topics. This hands-on event allows the active standards community to share results and active operations in a face-to-face working environment and discussions. Related activities will be informal talks and standards working group events.

This event occurs yearly at the IES flagship conference, IECON. It may be extended in a smaller event at other major IES conferences such as ISIE.
