IEEE International Smart Cities Contest 2022
Award ceremony colocated with the IEEE International Smart Cities Conference ISC2 2022
Within the scope of the Steering Committee of IEEE Smart Cities initiative, the Contest Program was created in 2021, and will have its first edition in 2022. The ISC Contest program also has the participation and support of the Conferences & Events Committee, the Education Committee, and the Marketing Committee
Who can apply?
Official representatives from municipalities/cities, including mayors, city managers, commissioners, secretaries or any other public authority related to city administration
Projects must be fully operative by March 2022
Contest Benefits for the Municipalities
Showcase visibility:
Visibility: this program aims to give greater visibility to the Smart Cities Successful projects. The municipalities submitting their successful project will have the opportunity to communicate worldwide their effort and accomplishments
Networking:
It will be an opportunity to network with other Municipalities on a global level to learn and get experience from other successful Smart Cities projects.
Recognition from a global Organization:
Municipalities finalists of the contest will receive the recognition of the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative, such a prestigious logo will be available for the finalists to use in their communication and advertising of city events.
Logos of all societies that belong to the Smart Cities will be included in the certificate for the Finalists
Enabling future projects:
The successful finalists will have the opportunity to justify future activities to their Municipal and National government with the qualified endorsement of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, a leading professional engineering organization with global coverage
Promotion in IEEE Smart cities activities
IEEE Smart Cities has a repository with information and webinar contents, the finalist Municipalities will have the opportunity to be included in the list of awarded projects in the communication and IEEE newsletter
Logos of all societies that belong to the Smart Cities will be included in the certificate
The finalists will be announced and awarded recognition given during the IEEE International Smart Cities Conference ISC2 , Sept 26-29, 2022 to be held in Cyprus

Rules of the Contest
Municipalities worldwide are invited to submit their proposals according the following rules
Only one project fully operative by March 2022 may participate per city, and is up to the applicants to decide which project best represents their success.
The documentation to be presented must be organized as follows:
Format of the presentation: A4, Single column, Font Times New Roman 11 points, maximum 20 pages.
We request your effort to summarize the information, be precise to clarify each point and include any additional information in an ANNEX.
Proposal form both a and b has to be completed
a) Project Identification
• City or Municipality Name
Here identify the City or Municipality within a city or borough.
• Project name and summary of Project Plan
Here identify the project, summarize the Project plan (in case you have it, put the Project plan in an Annex to the proposal Form).
• Name, email and affiliation in the City or Municipality organization of the person that submits the proposal
Here identify the person that presents the proposal with due affiliation and authorization of the Municipality or City , he/she will be the liaison for any question the jury may have.
• Name, email and affiliation of Project members that can be consulted
Here include other relevant professionals involved in the project and their roles.
• Usability of the project and application
Here describe what organizations or citizens are benefited by the project ( Example Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transportation .. Population size that can have access to the project, Number of downloads of the application..)
• Characterization of the Municipality or City
If applicable, here define what category the city belongs by OECD

Smart Cities Award Contest Jury consist of up to six members designated by the IEEE Contest Organizing Committee and in agreement with the Smart Cities Steering Committee.
